Best thing I ever did

There are so many things I have discovered through 23 and Me. I loved learning about my ancestry, connecting with relatives and the health reports. My daughter and as of today, my son have also completed a kit. There were so many important insights, like the fact that I am a PKU carriers. People with PKU cannot process phenylalanine, which is found in aspartame. I have always had serious issues with the sweetener, now I think I know why. There are so many revelations along the way, I recommend this product for everyone!

This is a great kit to buy and I love results but I wish that it would break it down even further on what part of Africa that my family history comes from more or less what country of Africa

Having a 'family tree' that was never spoken about, as elders die, is a very disheartening experience to live through. The solution has arrived with '23 & me': "me" is the only part that matters. Giving this information to my future generations, is more than I ever experienced in my childhood: the 'unknown' is declared, 'I had people' - that's validating.

Really cool experience

Even though I knew my background wasn't going to be very exciting and I already knew where I came from, it was still a really fun experience to do with my family. It was bonding and made me feel closer to my ancestors. I definitely reccommend it.

I like the research questions

I like how much research 23 and Me is doing for the genome, but I have no idea how to evaluate the ethnicity estimate, since it's different at every site. Genealogically, it's useless, since there's not much information about matches.

The kit comes complete with instructions and is SO easy to use. Right away family contacts were made, finding relatives missing for decades. The relative predictions were absolutely correct. Now old family legends can be confirmed or laid to rest.
