This will give you very limited information, really, don't waste your money!

fun to do and a surprise

My son bought this for me as a gift because he knew I have wondered about my unknown father and his side of the family. I was disappointed that more health information is not provided as that was my primary reason for wanting to do it but it was fun and I was surprised at my ethnicity.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I thought my ancestral nationalities and locations/cities/regions would be more pinpointed.
I was also hoping there would be more family surnames revealed.

MOST OF ALL I was looking forward to a map of the globe with pinpoints or "thumbtacks" where my ancestors came from color coded as to which are maternal and which are paternal...for example Red for Paternal, Blue for Maternal and Purple for overlapping perhaps. Something to that effect.
I'm still very new to 23andMe. I'll probably enhance with another service to compare results and also to get another feel and layout for the information.
I DO feel like I got a good value.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to Use Process

I have wanted to do this for a long while. I was, however, surprised at the results. We had long been told that we were Navtive American and our tribe even has a name that is not nationally known. Come to find out, I had roughly 0.1% Native American (so pretty much none). It was an eye opener.
As far as the process goes, the instructions are easy to follow, the website is easy to use, and the results are easy to understand.

I received my test, completed it, waited impatiently for the test to be completed and received the results. They were not the intensive results I expected. My ancestors are from European nations, that's it. not what countries, etc. the medical test were for strange types of medical issues I've never heard of. I was disappointed and felt I wasted $200.00
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wish this was available when I had over the years worked on our family tree. My mother insisting that we had Native American in us. I could find no evidence. Turns out she was wrong. With the exception of .1 % west african. I am of western european descent. I surprise was the germany, french, and spanish in me.

So many fun facts

Growing up I was told we had Native American in our heritage. I could never find any evidence. This came back that I'm over 50% English Irish. No Native American. I'm sad about that but happy to know. I also found some of my relatives and the relationship was correct. The facts and reports have been very interesting.
