This is a gift that keeps on giving! Not only do you get your initial results after submission but the research continues to provide results. I participate in every survey so as to assist in any research being done.

Finding Out About Me!

My wife purchased my kit for me as a Christmas gift. I have always been interested in my family origins, and have had trouble connecting the dots through traditional family tree methods. 23andMe was the perfect tool to help me uncover a lot of missing pieces, and we decided to purchase the Health portion as well. I am now able to make decisions related to improving my health based on my DNA report. How amazing is that!? I am so pleased with this service, and can't wait to see what else 23andMe has in store for the future!

Withdrawal of DNA relatives butGreat to know in ad

I had 1231 DNA relatives now you have subtracted it down to 1180. What is happening? How do they know too, subtract their names from my listed DNA relatives? I like the Timeline of different Ethnicities in my background. None of them Surprised me accept the Balkan people I.Was not Surprised of Africa, Iberian ( Portugal & Spain) , Sardinian, British, Irish, Southeast Asia Very little East Asia since I had an uncle with red hair. I have better to try to write the names down for my copy. Not even put this info on the Computer. I hope others learn this so they can choose in a hurry to copy the names of relatives.. Please tell your next Customers. I love 23 & me but waiting to find out my rest of my 100% that .03 is unassigned

You did not find any of my native American genes not even some Asian. That other sites have found. I'm very disappointed in this product.

Thank you for your feedback. Having Native American DNA is different from having Native American ancestry. We understand that the distinction between ancestry and DNA can cause confusion.
Your results from 23andMe can only show you what can be seen in your DNA. Native American DNA is often lost with time and with every generation and may not be revealed in testing such as ours. For example, it only takes a couple of generations from a full-blooded Native American to lose all trace of Native American DNA.
Currently 23andMe has several features that can reveal genetic evidence of Native American ancestry, although they are not considered a confirmatory test or proof of such ancestry in a legal context.
This does not mean that you do not have Native American ancestry or that your family heritage as passed down through the generations is incorrect.
Our Ancestry Composition report assigns results based on your genetic similarity to our 31 populations worldwide. These populations refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. If you do not see ancestry that you expected, this is because you more closely resembled our other reference populations genetically. Keep in mind that you randomly inherit 50% of your DNA from each of your parents. For this reason, your ancestry assignments may vary depending on which DNA segments you inherited from each parent.
