I really thought I knew about my health as well as my ancestry, and it turns out I had much to learn. The health report is amazing, they look at your specific DNA and compare it to variants linked to many different health related issues! I learned that I was a carrier of a specific illness, which doesn't necessarily mean I will have it, but carrying the gene can possibly be passed down to my children. It is always interesting to see the new health reports as the company is always updating. My ancestry was surprising because I mostly heard stories of where my ancestors derived from, and it was amazing to see my specific genes mapped out! You can see your DNA compared to different regions as well. This also leads me to the DNA relatives tool! This is super cool because it encourages you to investigate your roots and figure out how you are related to a certain person. It is such a fun past-time! (Addicting as well, but so much insight is to be gained!) It allows you to even download the raw DNA code, which I haven't done, but I think it is really neat to have that option. I highly recommend this.

The kit was simple not a lot of small pieces to deal with or puzzles to put together, easy to use, the directions were clear, a mailing pouch was included, so no mailing delays and the results were back in a matter of weeks. I would recommend this to anyone looking for family, ancestry or just information about yourself. I found all three.

I was always curious about my Ancestry, word of mouth is not necessarily factual. My parents told me I was NativeAmerican and since there from Mexico and speak Spanish of course Spanish as well. I made my conclusion from there I was mainly European. But this DNA test revealed so much more about me and my past than I ever imagined. My Ancestry is quite diverse, and I want to know everything I can about my ancestors and this service helps me so that better. I am grateful for 23andMe it’s amazing and great, it has honestly changed my life and my view to the world.
Thank you I want as much people to be able to take this test as possible, everyone deserves to know the truth.

Thank you for your feedback. DNA Relatives locates other 23andMe members that match your DNA and estimates a predicted relationship using the length, number of segments, and percentage of DNA shared. When two people share identical segments of DNA, this indicates that they share a recent common ancestor. This tool will be able to identify matches that are related to you both maternally and paternally within the last five to ten generations.
While many of your relatives may be more distantly related, there is the possibility of finding a much closer relative. As new matches are found, they will be continuously added to your DNA Relatives list.

I love 23andme! It's very fun and fascinating, and I've used it to find lost family members and lost heritage (apparently I'm part Jewish......). I also found out I had family living only an hour away that we didn't (a first cousin 3 times removed to be exact) know about! It's also fun to find out which siblings you are "most related to" as, for example, one of my sisters has 53% of my DNA while another sibling has only 49%! I plan on becoming a geneticist, so I especially love this, but I think anyone could find this fun. The one complaint is it takes a LONG time to get results back...... but I do still believe it's worth 5 stars.

Preference of 23andMe and AncestryDNA

With 23andMe, I thought this would be easier locating family, which is my main focus, However, I have connected with so many unknown relative with Ancestry DNA. 23andMe is almost like pulling teeth to get anyone to open up and connect with each other. My wife and I both took both DNA tests and both were spot on with ancestry heritage. If I am overlooking how to connect with family using 23andMe, please tell me.
