How Accurate Are These DNA Analysis?

I’ve submitted my DNA samples to three different labs, and I’ve received different results from all three. I am unsure of how to accept the results. Each lab states they focus on specific sequences or segments of the DNA samples, but then how can the clients/customers compare results when they are comparing apples from lab #1, to oranges from lab #2, and pears from lab #3? I feel that if all the DNA labs agreed to identical standards, there would be more confidence in the results provided the clients/customers. For anyone who has tried different labs like I have, and receive totally different analysis it can be disheartening, causing me to wonder if the results are based only on the survey results, or actually DNA analysis.

I bought 23andMe before I bought another brand. I was impressed with the breakdown of my DNA. However, its not easy to read your DNA matches and theres no place to search names etc. All you have is your initial breakdown. Not impressed with anything else offered.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Exceeded my expectations and gave me a whole new insight into my geneology. Always thought I was more Irish than German, bit I was proven wrong. Still, I am proud of my German roots as it's what makes me, me. Results came quicker than 8 weeks and I have found relatives I didn't even know existed. So happy with 23andme and would be happy to recommend it to everyone!

I have found the site interesting, however not as active of a site as I had hoped. I also wish that you could add the health to the base package at the same rate of an additional hundred rather then for a higher rate of 130. You end up spending thirty extra dollars.

Can't Add Ancestral Surnames

Unable to either edit existing or create new ancestral surnames to share/compare with DNA existing (i.e. alive relatives whom have email addresses). All you can do is invite existing family members/friends to your DNA profile.

DNA Relatives does not use any self-reported information, such as your surname(s), to find your matches. Rather, DNA Relatives estimates a predicted relationship and range using the number of segments and percent DNA shared.
