I found my family

I was adopted at birth 63 years ago .I only had bits of information on my birth mother and an older sister.A last name and city only. I bought the kit as a last resort to try and find my mother whom i knew was at best aging fast and an older sister whom I had never met..Because of 23 and me .I have found my sister Penny and 6 more brothers and sisters,aunts ,uncles ,cousins all who had been searching for the one sister that was given away.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What an Eye Opener

I'm so glad my daughter gave me this for Christmas. It has been a wonderful experience in getting to know cousins I never knew. It was really a shock to see that I have so many relatives. Thank you.

Not what I expected.

too many broad on my report

Thank you for your feedback. DNA Relatives locates other 23andMe members that match your DNA. This feature estimates a predicted relationship and range using the length and number of segments and percent DNA shared. When two people share identical segments of DNA, this indicates that they share a recent common ancestor.
You can locate any new relatives within your DNA Relatives list by clicking on the "Sort by" box and choosing "Newest Relatives".

Really surprised !

I have done my family in America back to the first Jamestown settlers & thought
most of them came from England but to my surprise most came from Western
Europe . In America they were farmers , fishermen , light house keepers, Royal Governers, Signer of Declaration of Independence , Secretary of State , Burgesses & on to England with King Henry the 8th ... I guess the most surprise
was that I had ancestor that was a Neanderthal!!! Crazy !!

You Might Want to Sit Down

Excellent, accurate, insightful...I was fascinated by my ethnic composition AND I also found out that the man who I had known as my father for 44 years is not my father and that my mother had an affair way back when. My siblings are my half-siblings and I may never know who my father is (thanks Mom). Better to know the truth about yourself than to live in darkness. Now begins the mystery of finding the missing pieces to my personal puzzle.

Overall my experience has been average. I received a report with lots of Broad and also unassigned designations. Hopefully the upcoming upgrade will provide a better understanding.
