A Great way to find biological families

With 23 & me, it brought me closer into finding my roots and my ethnic background. I have since been using all the information that 23 & me has provided me in furthering my search for my biological family. You see I found out at the age of 55, that I was adopted when I was 13 months old. It was a close adoption, therefore 23& me gave me the tools for my search. My mom and dad who adopted me had severe dementia, therefore little information was given to me. 23 & me has lessened my frustration in getting more information about my birth family.

Amazing!

Never dreamed where DNA would lead my family. Suffice to say, went in believing I had one Aunt...turns out through matching exact DNA in some areas, I had 11 additional half Aunts and Uncles. This would have never been revealed to us without my matching a cousin I never knew of. The miracle of DNA testing is wonderful..I highly recommend to adoptees searching for their family. However, be aware of some surprises maybe all would not want to know. It's been a great experience for my family though.

Eye Opening

The DNA test were surprising and contradictory to my families stories. Therefore, I've discovered more truths and opened doors that were previously closed. The research questions brought forth points that I previously thought were unique to me but now I know I share with others. The experience has been constantly Eye Opening.

Husband bought this bc I'm adopted n wanted to find others in my experience with 23andme I haven't been able to connect with anyone n the "dna" matches which aren't even clise to me when contacted don't respond it's very irritating but guess in the long run I know my genetic makeup that's all
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fun and informative especially since I was adopted

I just recently spoke with my real first cousins. I knew I was bi-racial and given up for adoption. But through 23 and me, I was able to connect with some them and it has made me feel more belonging. My cousins have been great!

I would like to be able to send a message to all related people with one click. If this is not possible, then when new relatives are found, leave them in a separate folder so that we do not have to look thru 1000 +/- links searching for those new names.

DNA surprises

Dna testing turned out to be surprisingly interesting. All that I knew and expected was indeed in the reports for my ethnic background. What was so surprising was what the in depth examination revealed above and beyond what I expected. What a thrill it was to find the additional heritage I have. Personally I have 20% eastern european dna. That thrills me to death because of what I know about my heritage, that means i've got 20% Russian dna. The other part is the Iberian dna which I had no idea i had any part of. All I know is this whole thing is an adventure and I couldn't be more thrilled. I have permitted all research to be shared, and I hope such sharing will be reciprocated.
