I am adopted and bought this to see “who I am.” I not only found out my heritage but I found biological parents and half siblings on both sides!

Found a sister!!!

I took this test on the off chance I might be able to find my birth father. I found a first cousin who was able to connect me with him and amazingly I found out I have a sister!!! This test was worth every penny to track down an entire family!!!

It's good

Being a genetics major, I did not jump into this expecting it to be 100% accurate. No one should. I took this test, mainly for curiosity on what the algorithm will come up with. I was hoping, coming into this, that the results are not final. Science is known for its' ongoing research and discoveries. I hoped with ongoing research in the genetics field, 23andme would be able to go back and implement these new discoveries into my genome to improve its accuracy. So far, 23andme has bee doing exactly that!
The only reason I did not give this a 5/5 is that they grouped together North Africa to the Middle East. Berbers are NOT genetically related to the Middle East, therefore, there should be a division.

Could be better

My Daughter gave this as a gift to me and I have tried to navigate this to best of my ability. I think I have not gotten all I can from this program because of my own inept ability.I thin k if I would have had a coach along the way,I could have gotten more from this program.

I just recently linked with a second cousin who's Mother was given up for adoption. She was trying to find out more information about her Grandmother and ancestry. I'm so thankful 23 and me brought us together. We have now been researching our family tree together, and are back 6 generations now to relatives from France and Scotland. I've also been loving the updates. About to get a kit for my husband's 99 year old great grandmother!

If it hadn't of been for 23andme I might of never learned of medical traits of which I would have never known of and I might of never finally made a genetic connection with my paternal family after waiting 50yrs to connect with!
