My kids gave me the kit for Christmas. What a gift it has become. They gave me the kit to find out finally, where we came from. It was incredible to find out that I had some Spanish and African in my family tree, we were Irish and Italian. I didn't know I could select member to member contact. I had contacted a few of my "cousins", but they were more 4th or 5th cousins and we couldn't seem to find the link...until this week. I contacted a member who was my "3rd cousin". He then had his mother contact me. Her grandmother was the sister of my grandfather we had only "heard of" but didn't know. Since then, two days ago, we have contacted each other dozens of times and are now inviting our new found cousins to the family reunion next summer. It will quadruple the attendance... Or more! What a incredibly special gift!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So-So, I did get my results quickly, Taking The DNA test did not meet my expectations, as there is quite a lot of unassigned.

My husband and I purchased 23and me back in February. He wanted to see if he had American Indian heritage in his background, he doesn’t; I went along not expecting to find anything about my family history. I had been given up for adoption as an infant. Long story short, a first cousin on my biological Fathers’s side contacted me through 23and me in July and I found out that I have a half Sister! WOW! We have talked and texted and e-mailed like crazy! We even look like Sisters! Thank you 23and me! AMAZING!

I didn't know much about my Dad's heritage and thought my Mom's relatives were German. Less German and so much more learned. I went to sleep with a smile on my face knowing I finally knew something about myself I had never known. Blonde and blue eyed but 6.7% sub-Harahan African. Shocker but fun at the same time.

Waste of $100.00, I already knew 2 relatives already, saw no one new that comes close to my data.
