Thanks to 23&me, my life is forever CHANGED!!!

After 16 years, my new Auntie, that I discovered through 23&me helped me find my biological father and her half brother. My biological Father did not know that he had a 50 year old daughter OR THAT THE MAN WHO RAISED HIM WAS NOT HIS BIOLOGICAL FATHER. I can not begin to explain all the amazing details of this EPIC Story but I hope to tell as many people as possible about 23&me and how it gave the missing puzzle pieces to my life. I AM VERY GRATEFUL. I love the dad that raised me and nothing will change the love I have for him or my family...But now I have a bonus family...Life is good!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND 23&me.

So Glad I Did This

As someone adopted through closed adoption as an infant, this has been tremendously wonderful for me in so many ways. I have connected to a few biological relatives, with very positive feelings about how that has gone, although that was not a factor in doing the testing. What I most enjoy, and why I tested, was to learn vital health information I simply had NO access to before, and seeing the breakdown of my heritage, which included several wonderful surprises. Site and kits are super easy to use and extremely informative. I'm thrilled with the whole experience!

Don't waste your money

If you are adopted or looking for family this might be a good start and I hope it can and will bring happiness. Other than that don't waste your money. If seems that they use broadly alot to cover a lot of areas. They missed a lot of my DNA mix and even tried to stretch it using the term boadly to come closer to what I might be. I only did the ancestry part which I am greatful for. With the sorry DNA job they did I can only imagine what they would have me thinking I may have some kind of disease and running to doctor to doctor. Hopefully they may get better. As of now I wish I didn't waste my money.

Thank you for your feedback. 23andMe offers one of the most comprehensive analyses of your DNA ancestry. We provide you with one of the most detailed ancestry composition reports on the market today. You can find out about your ancestral origins, what percent of your DNA comes from populations around the world, your maternal and paternal lines and your neanderthal percentage.

You can view the reports included in our service here: https://www.23andme.com/dna-ancestry/

Ancestry Composition has the ability to assign pieces of your DNA at several geographic scales, according to where these pieces of DNA are found to be common throughout the world. For example, one piece of DNA might be found only in Finnish people, so we can with some confidence call this DNA "Finnish". Another piece of DNA might be found with some frequency in populations within England, Norway and Germany. Instead of choosing arbitrarily from among these regions, Ancestry Composition will label these pieces “Broadly Northern European."

If a piece of DNA is found all over Europe, but not outside Europe, Ancestry Composition will label that DNA “Broadly European." Pieces of DNA found in multiple widespread regions, such as Europe, the Near East, and Asia, will be labeled “Unassigned.”

My Mom was adopted and she died at 21 when I was born. At age 66, I did my DNA test. Found out my dad is not my biological dad. My brother is my half-brother and I have a half sister I didn't know I have! My new half sister and I have been some digging and we think we found out who are biological dad is. This has been crazy trying to figure out!

Fun, Informative Experience

I initially took this test because who doesn't want to know more about themselves? Also, I know I have some relatives who were given up for adoption when they were born and I wanted them to be able to find their birth family. However, to my wonderful surprize, I found out some interesting history about my genes and health. 23 and Me gave me a new perspective on myself and my ancestors. Such a cheap price to know so much about oneself. Try it!

Very disappointing

So, first 23andme is not accurate. In my first dna review 23andme said I was not French and I am a direct descendant of Andre Verdier. This past week they updated my chip results to say I am 8 percent French. So, at the advice of another family member I am trying a different product. This caused needless fights in my family and it was incorrect.

I found family!

Thank you 23 and me!! I did the at home dna test hoping to find out about my heritage, but I found so much more! I was notified that additional relatives had been found, I opened the email to see I had a half brother! Was not expecting that at all!! I contacted my brother and found out that while my dad was serving 2.5 years in Germany as an American GI he impregnated a German woman. My dad was shipped back to the US before the German woman realized she was pregnant, my dad passed away 16 years ago never knowing he had another child. I am thankful I was able to meet my oldest brother last weekend, he is coming to where I grew up to meet the other siblings and our children in October. Wow, I’m so blessed that I found a piece of my fathers past and got a great brother too!
