During the last couple of months I have been lucky to have my long ago adopted niece find her way to our family. We are thrilled and it would never have happened without 23 And Me. My sibling nieces and nephew are thrilled to now be able to have contact with their sister.

I did 23 and Me because it was always a mystery in what I could be. I don't know my bio Father, nor do I want to. I wanted to know what made my skin a nice olive color, and why I had brown eyes and black hair. I am so glad I finally have a piece of mind.

23andMe provides, in short, the insight necessary to make informed life decisions on things like pregnancy, while also providing valuable insight into ancestry and health quirks. The health service provides not only their interpretation of your data, but also your fully sequenced DNA, which can be used for further analysis outside of 23andMe. Thanks to 23andMe, I understand myself better. I feel more confident in my future. 23andMe's research initiative is one of the most promising too: it truly feels like I'm giving back to humanity when I'm adding data. I can't wait to see what insights come out next.

Results were very surprising! 23 and me confirmed my thoughts and more. 23 and me really went deep - so deep, now I know why the sickness run in the blood line. Thank you 23 and me!

A Surprising History!

I did this with my boyfriend as a way to look into our genetic past and see if maybe we we're related to anyone famous. As it just so happened my boyfriend is a decendant of the Cheddar man and I am a decendant of Niall of the Nine Hostages. And the surprise didn't stop there. Because I am adopted I had no clue what my DNA could tell me. I found out I am a descendant of the native basque people of spain, and carry 30% native american dna linked to the ancient Anasazi of Utah. Using 23andme tools I found relatives and messaged them about my paternal line. I soon learned that I am a descendant of the spanish aristocracy and that my paternal family had been intermarrying distant relatives to keep the bloodline pure for 100's of years. Mind blown, I couldn't believe it and I am so happy. I feel like there is a whole world of history inside my genes. Thankyou 23andme!

Informative to a point

I really enjoy genealogy as a hobby and have been excited to get this factual scientific information to add to my understanding of who I am . I’ve given kits as gifts to both of my parents and although that has provided a wealth of information and a interesting mystery I’m working on solving, I find that any ancestry research really depends on the cooperation of other people who match as your DNA relatives. I enjoy answering research questions and feel like I’m really contributing when I get emails from 23 and me letting me know that my feedback has been involved in discoveries. It’s very satisfying. I also find it easy to research genetic information and then search my own raw data for insights. I’ll be gifting a kit to my twin sister soon.

I am adopted and my birth mother had a very common surname which made searching difficult. As a result of having my ancestry done with 23 and me, I was able to find first cousin matches and locate my birth mother. I've been searching off and on for years, with the matches I found her in about an hour! I finally have roots!

I wanted to get a record of possible relatives and locations, the reports gave me an understanding of how I came to be me. My reports were easy to understand and the comparison with other relatives was not hard to read.
