I have found some family traits I did not know about. I thought I would get more data/information on my mother and father's traits, family and DNA factors, such as identifying family lines or connections

Appears To Be Accurate on Genetic Markers

I have had some genetic testing by a geneticist due to an extremely rare tremor disorder that I have, and 23andMe has accurately detected two of the markers that I know I have and that they test for. I have a great interest in my ancestry and am glad I submitted by DNA and have also gotten 2 of my siblings to participate too. I'm anxiously awaiting my brother's results to get info from my father's side. I plan to purchase the health info in the future.

Mixed feelings

I recently received my results and love the breakdown I was given, and enjoyed seeing some of the different features offered. On the other hand, I have been disappointed by the DNA relatives feature. It seems to be a wasteland of names/info that nobody actively uses or follows up on. Although I know that 23andMe's database is smaller than some other companies, and doesn't necessarily promote the ancestry side of DNA testing, I was still disappointed with the total lack of ancestry options. The genetic portion and finding out more about my genetic background was great though.

The Throwback Kid

Since I was a teen, about 4 times in my life, I've switched from English to Spanish if I was extremely upset or tired. I never knew why, since I was from Indiana & Los Angeles. When I found out my mom's haplotype was in Spain, for many years. I think I understand my Throwback genes' reactions.

Interesting and Confusing

I was given the 23andme "project" by my family (two married children and on currently unmarried one who all knew of my interest in my origins. I am fairly up on my ancestry back through the early to mid 1700s but the info beyond that I have only interpolated from readings of movements of peoples around the world. I am of German, English, and Scandinavian descent and am interested in learning what my influences might be from Indo-European and photo-Indo-European (if there even is such a classification) sources. For example, I'd love a connection to the Celts or the other wandering groups of those time-dimmed eras.
