So Happy I Did This

As an adoptee, I always wondered about my genetic makeup. My birth family was Irish, so I happily celebrated St. Patrick's Day with them, but I always wondered if I was borrowing their holiday. I knew from my non-identifying information, that my birth father was of Irish decent, but still... it bothered me. Until 23 and me confirmed that my genetic background is 92.5 % English and Irish decent. I think that question has been answered now. My roots are pretty clear. I also did the health history part and it answered some of the questions about genetic issues that have always gone unanswered regarding what may lay ahead for me. I realize that this is not a predictor or a guarantee, but at least it gives me a genetic indicator of what Is in store. I can't recommend this product more. It is so satisfying to finally know who I am. Thank you 23 and Me.

I've more than doubled the size of my family!

Through 23 and Me I have found my birth mother's family. I found out that I have 4 brothers which is awesome since I have always been an only child. I have met 1 of the brothers and have talked with another. They all live quite a distance from me. One is deceased. I also have more than 10 new first cousins
which live nearby. 23 and Me has changed my life!

Bring Back Full Health Result

They health results were spot on! They knew things that ran in my family. I've changed my eating styles because of this verification and now I am healthier and will live longer.

VERY comprehensive information, much more health-specific and right on target for me. Well worth the price, so easy to comprehend and interpret. Expectations exceeded and the information is so fascinating.

A Great Way To Connect With Additional Family

Found that I had over 1000 relatives in their database and I've enjoyed connecting with distant cousins who can provide additional details about my family heritage. It was also a nice relief to get such positive results on the Health portion of the kit. Based on what I've heard about other services, it seems like I learned so much more from this service than my friends learned from other services.

It Will Be Fun One Day

23andMe is ... frustrating. I want it to be so much more than it is. Not only is there very little actual information to be gleamed for a pretty steep price, but the website is super frustrating to use, terribly designed, not user friendly. Sharing and comparing requires many steps and back and forths. Finding relatives does too. And they outsourced the family tree function to MyHeritage! That being said, I still enjoy the little I have learned. I have connected with some super cool distant cousins that have helped me fill out my family tree. And I have hope that the website will improve and the information will get better, with perhaps more traits and less medical info.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Got this as a gift from my daughter, and I love it! My mother, my 93 year old grandmother, my sister, and my cousin are all doing it now too! Finding out so much cool stuff! This has been something that has brought us closer together!
