I am so glad I did this test. I uncovered a family secret about my ancestory I wasn't expecting. This began a great dialogue with my cousins and really sparked some wonderful family discussion. I thought it would tell me thing I knew, but this told me four things I would never have guessed.

I thought the results were too vague and generalized and that they were made by the questions that were asked more than the sample DNA.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
You can read about the population selection process in more detail in the corresponding section of the Ancestry Composition Guide:

The data that we report is strictly genetic information regarding your genotype (e.g. the A’s, T’s, C’s, and G’s at particular locations in your genome), generated through processing of your saliva by 23andMe. Participation in surveys is completely voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not affect your genetic data.

Easy to Follow Instructions; Fascinating Results

My son gave this to me for my birthday (after having used the product himself); and we were both intrigued with my results - especially that I am far less German than I thought - and that I have British/Irish genes; something I never considered.

- He or she does not yet have results
- He or she is not opted-in to the DNA Relatives feature
- There was no genetic relationship found
Please confirm that your half-sister has received complete results including DNA Relatives, and that she has opted-in to this feature.
For information regarding DNA Relatives, please visit the following article: customercare.23andme.com/hc/articles/212170838
