More questions than answers

I bought this test plus health a month ago. I was crazy with anticipation as i had researched for months to decide which company to choose and finally get answers to my questions. I was led to believe with the different ways to test DNA especially for a female that i would have gotten better results. Instead, what i received was what i suspected all along from my mothers side and a mystery on my fathers side. In addition, i thought in the beginning that the questions when registering about my health was important but instead i found that i was answering for the test itself. It just made it easier for the analyzers to compare hypotheses against my answers to specific questions. I think the only pop up was that there was a slight risk in cystic fibrosis in which my sister did pass away from complications as an infant. In the end, i had more questions about my background than when i began and clueless as to my health risks.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. Your genetic data is analyzed, and we generate your personalized reports based on well-established scientific and medical research. Your genetic analysis results are not connected to or derived from your survey answers. The data that we report is strictly genetic information regarding your genotype (e.g. the A’s, T’s, C’s, and G’s at particular locations in your genome), generated through processing of your saliva by 23andMe.
It is important to note that both women and men receive ancestry information based on DNA they inherit from both their father and mother. The majority of our features, including Ancestry Composition and DNA Relatives, analyze your autosomal DNA that you inherited in equal parts from both of your parents. Thus, your results from 23andMe will include your paternal ancestry as well as your maternal ancestry.
Haplogroups are one small part of your ancestry analysis. If a male relative such as your father, brother, paternal uncle or paternal male cousin were to be genotyped then you would be able to infer your own paternal haplogroup information from his.

Not really what I expected.

I brought the $99 one almost two months ago. I knew I was Middle Eastern and Italian primarily and that is what I received along with a long list of third cousins at maybe 2% with no names etc.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My son gave this to me as a Christmas gift because he knows that I am very interested in tracing our family history. Unfortunately, the information provided thus far offers no insight into our ancestry.
