Lacking clarity

I had done test to compare with another one, and was disappointed in the broad range of unspecified percentages. It showed a .01% of an obscure region, yet had over 35% that was lumped into general European.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. If a piece of DNA is found all over Europe, but not outside Europe, Ancestry Composition will label that DNA “Broadly European." Pieces of DNA found in multiple widespread regions, such as Europe, the Near East, and Asia, will be labeled “Unassigned.”
The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.

Very thorough!

Even though I was fairly certain about my ancestry, I am glad to see it researched and complete. The details are so interesting and it is a thorough investigation into my genetics. I really love this product.

easy to do

was excited to find out I did have .2% native indian in me but not sure how far back i would have to research to find which Indian. also the 99,7% European was point on as I had been told by my maternal grandmother, and also was my father's side too

Surprise to find I am more English / Irish than German. Must be on Mother's side ( she was adopted, no original family history

My Ancestry & DNA

I got a 23&Me DNA test kit for Christmas. It was quite exciting to receive information about where my ancestors were living 400 hundred years ago. I was surprised as I was always told I my grandmother was a full blooded Native American Indian. That proved to be wrong. I have no American Indian in my DNA at all!

My husband and myself did all the reports on 23 and me and were so glad we did, learned more about our selves. I bought kits for my parents and sibling and very excited to wait for results. I recommend 23 and me to all of my friends.
