I showed my results to a friend who had used the well known genealogy brand. He immediately sent for the 23andme kit. We were both primarily interested in ancestry but the health reports were amazing

It has changed everything I thought I knew about my heritage. I am glad that my mom is still alive so she could participate. We are eagerly awaiting her results. By the way, I have already referred a friend.

I've filled out more questionnaire's than I can count and don't feel I have learned much about myself, unless you consider lactose tolerance and ear lobe type learning.
I hope the future of 23 and me will be more inclusive of valuable info.

A Gift that Keeps on Giving!

I received my kit as a Christmas present. It was such a novel idea! Everything was neatly packed with instructions, and ready to receive my sample. All I had to do was spit into a tube and send it back in the box!. After a few weeks my results were on my screen. I was so thankful to have the reams of information produced. Out of it came a deeper sense of myself, my connection to history and to all peoples of the world. I like the fact that I can share this information with my family and that I am able to receive updates. Helping with participation in research is another exciting feature offered. I highly recommend the experience.

I suppose I got what was advertised. The information was interesting, but I would have liked to get an idea of what migratory group was in my past. The Irish are considered to have Celtic roots, but British and Irish/French and German seem to ignore the Norse, Celts, Goths, Vandals, etc who spread their genes over Western Europe.
I was surprised (happily) to find that I have a small amount of Ashkenazi genetic material, but my wife should have shown some Sephardic links from her Portuguese origin. In sum, I thought the discussion was somewhat superficial.

My husband and I got this for each other as a Christmas gift. We've both done extensive genealogy on our families. We we're amazed to learn we have ansestors from places we never thought about. We're excited to try and trace our families to some of these other areas of the world! Thank you! One of the best gifts ever!
