Genetics failed

Bought test for both ancestry interests and health. But genealogy was incorrect I share nothing with my grandmother who is from Germany. On both sides. I was informed I'm British? Health part was vague and completely useless. Waste of money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. Our Ancestry Composition report tells you what percent of your DNA comes from each of 31 populations worldwide. The analysis includes DNA you received from all of your ancestors, on both sides of your family.
To view a full list of the reference populations, please click the blue "See all 31 tested populations" link under your Ancestry Composition results.
Some populations are inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart. In these cases, your expected ancestry may actually be included in the broadly assigned ancestry for that region.The Broadly Assigned label is assigned when a piece of DNA can be found with some frequency in multiple regions.

Hard to understand

Hard to understand how this is helpful. List 1500 random people. A pie chart which most people in the United States looks the same.

The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.

Detailed reports, quick service!

I knew a little about my family history and as an archaeologist/historian I wanted to learn more about it. A friend suggested 23andme and I told my family about it to see if it was worth it. They practically threw money at me to get me to do it. The reports came back and we had a get together to reveal the results and we found out a little more than we expected. We had assumed I was 50/50 Irish Italian. Turns out it's actually Irish, italian, some Spanish, English and a tiny drop of Ashkenazi which was a cool little piece of information once I looked into it. Nobody had any idea about the other parts of us. The genetic testing is fascinating and I encourage everyone to do it. The only thing I was a little bummed about was the lack of details of some parts "broadly northwestern European" that was a large chunk of DNA that couldn't be specifically isolated. Hopefully one day I can pinpoint that to a specific area. Other than that, I love this. The Neanderthal Dna was really cool too!

Unfortunately, my results didn't contain any of the surprise zingers that I was hoping for, like you see in the commercials, but it was definitely interesting to find out more specific details about my ancestry. I was also very interested in the traits and wellness reports. I'm a big believer in "knowledge is power" and these reports provided me with so much more info about myself. It's just so fascinating! I've been recommending it to everyone I know!
