I am adopted and felt I needed to know what I could pass along to my adult children. Having started at zero what was my risk of breast cancer heart disease or any other risks my genes played. Atrial Fib was a high risk unknown to me, last year I had my first episode. I also found my biological 1/2 brothers and sisters from my mom and dad, but that is another story for another time!

As a senior I was interested in health risks as I age. The site is a wonderful source for those who want to be proactive & informed.

I'm pleased with the breadth of data 23andMe has made available. The presentation of data is easy to read and enough information is given around the results to get started in private research. Moving forward I, and likely many others, look forward to more information around individual carrier status and health risks.
One area 23andMe could improve might be in their mobile (IOS) app. It's a challenge to view some of the information and some of the functionality of the browser is omitted entirely (eg reports), however, it's easy to complete the research questionnaires.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was very excited when I first found 23 and Me I am finding out about my health and relatives .I am interested to get History.My Parents disowned most of my Family when I was a child .I didn't get to grow up with them

Finding Family

At first I was a little disappointed.I had been looking for the unknown paternal side of my family for so long(30 years,give or take),and not having much luck.One day I was just checking and a first cousin appeared,likely a shared set of grand parents.Paternal,as it turned out.I had finally found my biological father and a whole set of wonderful family members I never knew existed(and vice-versa).Thanks to my awesome daughter that bought me the kit for mothers day,I now have quite an extended family!Thank You 23andme!

I ordered 23 & Me to learn about my health background because I was adopted and didn't have any medical history. Not only did I find answers to medical questions, I found links to my biological family.
On my 50th birthday, I met my biological Mother, 5 brothers/sisters on her side and 4 brothers/sisters from my biological fathers side of the family. My biological father had passed a few years earlier. All of this was made possible by my match with a 2nd cousin on 23 & Me. She reached out, we figured out the connection. I am so thankful she reached out to me.
I grew up with 9 siblings. I now have 18 brothers & sisters and could not be happier!!
I am so grateful for 23 & Me bringing me and my biological family together!!
