23andme is an incredible opportunity to gain valuable insight into your health and family history. I was so excited reading through and learning so much about myself. My partner and I gifted the health + ancestry package to each other and we loved getting to know each other on a much deeper level.

I did this encase I had any nieces, or a sister that I never met might be trying to find out about their father's side of the family whom they have never met. My brother told me he had fathered twin girls some time in the late 70's to the early 80's. Don't have exact dates or the mother's name
Also my dad told me he had a daughter around 8 years old back in 1980- 1981? Think she was in Mexico or Texas at the time. Have not found them yet but I did find a couple 2nd cousins. Been an interesting journey so far. Oh I'm related to Ben Franklin somehow. That's cool

Take caution

You may be surprised by what you find out. Took this test because I thought I had Jewish roots, but turns out I did not. At 54 years old I discovered my Father was not my biological Father. Sorry I ever took this test.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been a member of 23 and me for a long time. Honestly, I can't remember when I joined. But I will say that it has been one of the best experiences in my life. It has made me be more aware of my family and ask more pertinent questions. I look forward to learning more.
