23& me gives you bare minimum info about your DNA. They may offer more but it would certainly cost more $$$ To me not worth it

Very General in nature.

I have been able to contact one relative through the Kit, but by and large, I feel it provides the person with generalties and too few specifics. It doesn't say where exactly your roots are from, it just give a wide swath. A layman could figure that out without genetics. I would like to see tighter links, states where relatives reside and personal specifics unique to my DNA. It's not what I expected from watching the TV adds...I was expecting much more data and specifics.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just wish that ALL test results were included in your initial test kit price. To many premium extra charges for me to give a 5 star review.

Ancestry Reports--not too impressive

I found out that I was 74% British and Irish. Big deal! What do I do with that?

Not great if you are adopted

I was expecting more medical information, and the Ancestry part doesn't compare to competitors. All in all, I'm just meh. So, if you are also adopted, I'd still do this, but get the DNA and look at other boards.

Our DNA Relatives tool locates other 23andMe members that match your DNA. Our Ancestry Composition feature assigns ancestry percentages based on your genetic similarity to our 31 reference populations. Since this feature analyzes your autosomal DNA which you inherited in equal parts from both of your parents, it will reflect both your maternal and paternal ancestry.
23andMe can give you a glimpse at your biological parents' DNA simply by showing you your own. Your parents each passed half of their own DNA onto you, so your genetic composition reflects theirs.

Generational Effects

My children were very excited about my results; now we are waiting on their father's results. The results confirmed some facts we knew about our genealogy and brought up some new surprising information. It's a great experience for any family.
