not worth the money

I felt like it was a total waste of a lot of money. It didn't tell me anything special. Won't do it again.

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You now are able to receive 65+ reports on health, traits and ancestry instead of exclusively ancestry reports. You can preview a full list of available reports here: https://www.23andme.com/dna-health-ancestry/
Keep in mind that each health, trait and wellness report includes a Scientific Details tab that includes more detailed information.

Debunking that family lore - oh well...

Family lore had it that we were part Cherokee, so I was so excited to see my ancestry profile. But there was no American Indian in my profile. I am totally North-western European (British, Irish, French, German, with a touch of Scandinavian). My Italian husband's profile map almost colors in the globe. I guess such was the reach of the Roman Empire!

Getting to Know Me

I was happy to know that my family has passed down accurate information as from where we had migrated. I loved the long lists of people I share some DNA with & all charts showing specific ancestor information. I'm really enjoying having this report & have been able to connect with relatives I never knew existed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Interesting, but not worth the money

I didn't find it specific, and seems like a lot of conclusions drawn could've been taken from the survey questions I had answered. Don't see how this actually helps anyone.

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You now are able to receive 65+ reports on health, traits and ancestry instead of exclusively ancestry reports.
Your genetic analysis results are not connected to or derived from your survey answers. The data that we report is strictly genetic information regarding your genotype (e.g. the A’s, T’s, C’s, and G’s at particular locations in your genome), generated through processing of your saliva by 23andMe.
Participation in surveys is completely voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not affect access to your genetic data or use of the 23andMe service. Even if you have given consent to participate, you are not required to take the surveys; you may choose to take all, some, or none of the surveys. You can opt out of participating in research at anytime by navigating to your Account Settings page.

Falling short

Really unfriendly web site. Wvwery confusing to navigate. I thought they would give me more info. Info is suspect, for example my girlfriends mom is part Chinese, but they lost my girlfriend different. ??!/'?????

South Asian? Don't bother.

My results were 99.9% broadly South Asian and 1% broadly European. No detail on either. There's nothing that I really learned from this. Until they get more data on South Asians, it's not worth spending the money on it.
On the other hand my husband was pleased and received great country specific information on his European ancestry.

Thank you for your feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.

Your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. As we update our reference data, it will not be uncommon to see slight shifts in your results over time.

Although there are many reports produced, I was hoping they tested for dementia markers and they do not.
