Overpriced and underwhelmed

It's crummy to pay this much for information and then get so little back. And I provided a LOT of the information. Makes me wonder if you would've come up with your report on my DNA without my input. Very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thanks for your feedback. Your participation in our research project is completely voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not affect access to your genetic data or use of the Personal Genetic Service. Even if you have given consent to participate, you are not required to take the surveys; you may choose to take all, some, or none of the surveys.
Your genetic analysis results are not connected to or derived from your survey answers. You can opt out of participating in research at anytime by navigating to your Account Settings page.
The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You now are able to receive 65+ reports on health, traits and ancestry instead of exclusively ancestry reports.

Information on nationalities was interesting.

We have friends who got their results and, for example, have had interesting communications with far-flung relatives. Maybe we are just less interested in our relatives, but it just doesn't seem worth the time to learn about people who share tiny amounts of DNA with us.

Maybe too Early

Results are limited to a set of dna linage known only as of now and then relies on mathematical techniques of probabilities which become more defined over time as more people submit to the test. Hence, maybe in a decade or two the test will be more selectively accurate.

I found out what I'm made of

I bought this product after I bought it for my third wife. She found out that she was mostly British and Irish but had northern Africa and some eastern European. She was always told she was mostly German. I was always told that I was European with some American Indian. When I got back the results I found out that I was 100% European with mostly British and Irish. I also found out I didn't carry any genetic problems that passed down to my kids. This is well worth the money and should be done before getting married the first time. I would recommend this to everyone.

If you are a female looking for paternal data you won't find it here unless yor father or brothers are alive.

Thank you for your feedback. It is important to note that both women and men receive ancestry information based on DNA they inherit from both their father and mother. The majority of our features, including Ancestry Composition and DNA Relatives, analyze your autosomal DNA that you inherited in equal parts from both of your parents. Thus, your results from 23andMe will include your paternal ancestry as well as your maternal ancestry.

Surprising results

I grew up believing my maternal grandmother was half Blackfoot Native American. My test showed I'm less than 1% Native American. I'm disappointed about that. I'm also not as much German and Irish as thought. Interesting data. Thank you 23 and Me!
