My husband is a former 23andme member. 23andme reported to him that he shared a paternal line ancestor with Niall of the Nine Hostages. Oddly enough he later discovered he had a direct ancestor by the name of Niall (Neil) de Carrick who was born about 1202 in Ayshire, Scotland and died in about 1256 in Fife, Scotland. Niall de Carrick is a direct (or blood) relative of the Sinclairs, Robert the Bruce, the Stuart family, and Normans. However, his connection with Niall and the others is maternal through his grandmother's side of her family rather paternally. He also found that he and I are distant cousins through the Stuart family. He has yet to find his paternal line to Niall but continues investigate.

Ancestry provides more accurate data, and most services are included with the basic kit. Here, they want you to pay for everything. The app is also much better

Anyone who was adopted, I would really suggests this. Most of us have no idea of health or ancestry. You may get a glemse of who you really are. As far as health I would personally prefer to know so that I will be able to plan for issues down the road.
