Mother's Day

I got my 23 & me as a mother's day present a few years ago. Then I found out I could've gotten the test for free as I have Parkinson's Disease. Ha! Overall I have enjoyed the results. The only complaint I have is that fellow folks on the list do not respond to contacts.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overpriced and not as scientific as promised

Having no connection to my biological family's history and lineage, I was dependent on (and excited for) 23andMe to answer the questions I've spent my entire life trying to answer.
However, I find it intensely disappointing to have received such vague information at such a high cost and effort.
I'm told I am 63.1% British and Irish.
Clearly 63.1% makes up the majority decision, however....what am I supposed to do with that math: just GUESS which one is greater?
I've got one vacation opportunity and just enough savings to accommodate that trip alone. This DNA verification was meant to be part of a once-in-a-lifetime family exploration trip.
Consequently, the singular purpose of this test was to determine where on the globe I'd visit to learn exactly who I am and where I come from.
Taking a blind gamble on England versus Ireland was not what I had in mind.
But, hey, if I upgrade for the bargain price of another $125 I can find out what potential genetic diseases I could pass along to my children....

Thank you for your feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
You can read about the population selection process in more detail in the corresponding section of the Ancestry Composition Guide: https://www.23andme.com/ancestry_composition_guide/

I tried to find out which of ethnic group of the natives American is in my DNA but their result for Native Americans are very general not as specific as they are with European groups. Also your result of Jewish DNA is totally made up. How a religious believe can be expressed in the DNA?

Thank you for you feedback. The 23andMe Ancestry Composition report tells you what percent of your DNA comes from each of 31 populations worldwide, including Ashkenazi. I was given this as a gift and I don't know why it's interesting or cool. It's pretty dumb.
