Overwhelming experience!

When my husband give me the kit as a gift, I never though I could have so may answers at once, finally to know my ancestry and family roots through DNA thanks to 23andme!

This is a wonderful service that provides rich results so long as you have the knowledge or access to your own health history, including diagnostic results.

NO NEANDERTHAL

Way too vague. Example: "broadly northwesten european."
I chose this over Ancestry because they advertised NEANDERTHAL
percentages. Neanderthal was never mentioned!

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service provides 75+ personalized genetic reports to help you understand what your DNA says about your health, traits and ancestry. Our ancestry reports include Ancestry Composition, Haplogroups, and Neanderthal Ancestry in addition to tools to share and compare your DNA with friends and family.
Keep in mind that the population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.

Does not tell you anything you do not already know (hair color, eye color, lactose intolerance, etc.).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wasn't as excited after I read the vague results

23 and Me- My View of the Process

The 23 and Me kit was a gift from my children for my 76th birthday. The kit was extremely easy to use and register. The data it provided me falls into two categories. The ancestry data told me much of what I already knew from family history. However, the tracing back to my ancient ancestors, was somewhat interesting.
The health reports were very useful in that they provided me with information that I did not already know. That part of the reports was quite valuable to me.
In general, I was satisfied with the 23 and Me experience.
