Do not use if you're brown and looking for answers

This service will only tell you the frequency of ethnic phenotypes, it will not answer any meaningful questions you may have about your real ethnicity, or the cultural heritage of your forebears. Basically only use this service if you're curious about how many different kinds of European colonized your family.

Keep in mind that your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. As we update our reference data, it will not be uncommon to see slight shifts in your results over time.
We have launched the African Genetics Project to help advance our research on African ancestry. Our aim is to help people make new discoveries about their African identity by way of their DNA.

When my husband give me the kit as a gift, I never though I could have so may answers at once, finally to know my ancestry and family roots through DNA thanks to 23andme!

NO NEANDERTHAL

Way too vague. Example: "broadly northwesten european."
I chose this over Ancestry because they advertised NEANDERTHAL
percentages. Neanderthal was never mentioned!

Our ancestry reports include Ancestry Composition, Haplogroups, and Neanderthal Ancestry in addition to tools to share and compare your DNA with friends and family.
Keep in mind that the population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
