Thank you for your feedback. While there is a short ethnicity questionnaire that is associated with your profile information, these answers are not used to generate your ancestry results.
The data that we report is strictly genetic information regarding your genotype (e.g. the A’s, T’s, C’s, and G’s at particular locations in your genome), generated through processing of your saliva by 23andMe. Participation in surveys is completely voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not affect your genetic data.

I know from pics and stories that I have native american,Cherokee to be exact, in my heritage. This did not show up in my report. And "broadly northern European"? What is that? I expected to get more specifics.

Thank you for your feedback. Having Native American DNA is different from having Native American ancestry. We understand that the distinction between ancestry and DNA can cause confusion.
Your results from 23andMe can only show you what can be seen in your DNA. Native American DNA is often lost with time and with every generation and may not be revealed in testing such as ours. For example, it only takes a couple of generations from a full-blooded Native American to lose all trace of Native American DNA.
Currently 23andMe has several features that can reveal genetic evidence of Native American ancestry, although they are not considered a confirmatory test or proof of such ancestry in a legal context.
This does not mean that you do not have Native American ancestry or that your family heritage as passed down through the generations is incorrect.

I know for a fact that I have Indian DNA in my family. I know which ones and which are the strongest. This product or the researchers evidently did not complete the job I was given on my research when I purchased this product for myself and a friend. Nothing in my report suggested this fact.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. Your results from 23andMe can only show you what can be seen in your DNA. Sometimes, people with Native American ancestry may not see it reflected in their DNA. It is not uncommon to lose all trace of Native American DNA only a few generations after a full Native American ancestor.
If you do not see any ancestry assigned as Native American, this is because you more closely resembled our other reference populations genetically. Note that you randomly inherit 50% of your DNA from each of your parents. For this reason, your ancestry assignments may vary depending on which DNA segments you inherited from each parent.
Even if your Native American heritage cannot be seen through your DNA, you should not infer that your understanding of your family heritage as passed down through the generations is incorrect, only that your genetic heritage does not reveal Native American ancestry.
