I hate this product. Someone sent me a message, and I can't find any way to answer them. Dna matches are mostly anonymous or refuse to answer. There are no family trees available. I cannot figure out how to use this information at all to find out anything.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. To view and respond to your received messages, you can click on the green notifications icon in the upper right-hand corner of your account. In the drop-down menu, scroll to click "See all messages". This will bring you to your 23andMe inbox.

Keep in mind that DNA Relatives is just one of our many features, and it is important to keep in mind that our customers use our service for a variety of reasons. We are unable to determine if or when other 23andMe customers will respond to your sharing invitations or messages. We leave the option of responding to DNA Relatives introductions solely to the customer.

We don’t currently have a family tree feature included in our service. However, customers can link a family tree from another website to their DNA Relatives profile.

Thank you for your feedback. DNA Relatives is an optional opt-in feature that locates other 23andMe members that match your DNA. Note that for relatives to appear on your list, they must have been genotyped by 23andMe and opted in to participate in the feature.

A bunch information with not a lot explanation and there is no family members over seas.I kinda wanted to see famous people in history that were related. There is no comprehensive surname database your system is so scattered. You can't clearly see any family tree or even the morphology of surnames. Also the health traits didn't learn anything I wanted to know mental disorders and other risk factors.its hard to navigate I wish they had like online helper you could ask questions.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. At this time we are only able to determine if you share a genetic relationship with others who have been genotyped by 23andMe. If a notable individual has been genotyped and you match their DNA, we will mention this on your haplogroup report.

The Surname filter within DNA Relatives shows the surnames that your matches have listed on their profiles. Keep in mind that DNA Relatives does not use surnames or other self-reported information to find your matches.

Additionally, we don't offer health reports on mental disorders. For more information about the reports we offer, visit: https://www.23andme.com/dna-health-ancestry/

23andMe does a fine job of DNA analysis, the average user however renders what could be a powerful tool virtually useless. They either do not know any of their personal ancestry, even their four grandparents surnames seems to challenge the majority of users. Then there's those who believe there's some sort of nebulous privacy issue at stake and they jealously guard even basic ancestry information. So, we're left with the tools spread before our feet more like a museum than a workshop. In regard to the "historical" aspects of human migration and the nationality charts - these are clearly designed for clueless noobs and have NO historical or biological basis. The health information is the most valuable function of 23andMe's analysis and worth every penny. The ancestry part - meh.

Don't waste your money. The report is based on your race and survey and not your DNA.

Thanks for your feedback. Your genetic analysis results are not connected to or derived from your survey answers. The data that we report is strictly genetic information regarding your genotype (e.g. the A’s, T’s, C’s, and G’s at particular locations in your genome), generated through processing of your saliva by 23andMe. Participation in surveys is completely voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not affect your genetic data.

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service provides both health and ancestry information in a single service for a single price and is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You receive 65+ personalized genetic reports to help you understand what your DNA says about your health, traits and ancestry.

You can preview a full list of available reports here: https://www.23andme.com/dna-health-ancestry/

We will continue to work with the FDA to seek additional clearances for our product. However we are not able to speculate about changes to reports, or what may be available in the future, given our dialogue with the FDA is ongoing.
