Thank you for your feedback. 23andMe provides you with genetic information, but does not sequence your entire genome or perform predictive or diagnostic tests. Additionally, 23andMe is only able to provide results for conditions covered by our currently available reports. If the condition you are interested in is not the topic of a report, you will not receive information on that condition. You can view all currently available reports here: https://www.23andme.com/dna-health-ancestry/

Grandparents were on the health food track growing up exposed to boiled orange peels to lecithin and tigers milk drinks. So I've always been curious about nutrition. Now the genes seem even more interesting. No blood just spit and DNA data.

I originally purchased 23andMe for the Health portion. Although the Ancestry part is very interesting and was a pleasant surprise for how precise it it was what really impressed me (pinpointed Sicily and Cork!!). But what has stunned me is the EDUCATIONAL aspects of both Ancestry and Health portions of 23andMe. All the information about the countries I had genetic connections to was tremendous!! And I have studied Biology and genetics for the past decade and must say the genetic information and descriptions are very current (or even ahead) and literally could be a AP Biology/genetics course in High School or a Freshman/Soph. level class in college!!! The fact we can explore the genomes, look at data, comparative population genetics etc. etc. is mind blowing. Great job!!

Shocking!

A lot of the information/links that I have found, I knew. But, there were many shocking findings on a particular family line. We would not have found the truth had it not been for a single DNA test. I highly recommend doing this if you are searching for your family's ancestry/lineage. Warning: you might find things that you or other family members might not be prepared for.

Some People are Unhelpful

I just updated my DNA with the new V5 chip. One feature appears to link you with close relatives on the family tree. I have written to a number of those relatives hoping to obtain info re their forbears so I can knock down my brick wall grandfather's family. One person was exceptionally helpful. At least four others couldn't even bother to respond. Any time someone has contacted me, I have made a substantial effort to help them as I am on other sites and can look up info. Perhaps there can be a box people can check off to say "I AM UNWILLING TO HELP YOU FIND OUT WHO YOUR FAMILY IS."

This doesn't really tell you what main race you came from. Just a generalized country of origin. Dosen't really help
