they are not precise at all! They put you in categories (German/Irish). Well, what am I?! Am I german or am I Irish??? You can not consider them the same things!!!

Thank you for the feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
You can read about the population selection process in more detail in the corresponding section of the Ancestry Composition Guide: https://www.23andme.com/ancestry-composition-guide/

I am less likely to sneeze after eating chocolate, because of a neanderthal trait?

Thank you for your feedback. In your Neanderthal Ancestry report, you can review the traits that may be influenced by your Neanderthal markers. Scientists at 23andMe have identified associations between specific Neanderthal markers and certain physical traits. For example, Neanderthals variants are known to contribute to straighter hair, sneezing after eating dark chocolate, less back hair, and height.

I bought this to have confirmations about where my ancestors came from and to know about my carrier status... I'm disappointed that some very important carriers that can be life changing are not tested...

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service provides both health and ancestry information in a single service for a single price and is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You receive 65+ personalized genetic reports to help you understand what your DNA says about your health, traits and ancestry.

We will continue to work with the FDA to seek additional clearances for our product. However we are not able to speculate about changes to reports, or what may be available in the future, given our dialogue with the FDA is ongoing.

I'm new to the 23 and Me experience and find it fascinating! I've never done any kind of genealogy before, and this method makes it fun and pretty easy. I'm telling my family members all about it, so they will embark on the journey with me.

I did my genealogy several years ago so I knew what my ancestry was. But I decided to do this anyway to see if I could connect with others that are related to me. The DNA came back spot on. It stated that I was Northwestern European with 51.7% being British and Irish. That is absolutely correct. My mother is British and Irish and my father is Dutch, German and Scandinavian.

My mother's Village, Faeto only has 3,000 people & not near any big Cities or Trade Routes. My father's side is from Bari & we traced back 4 Generations of Marriage Licenses & they were all Italian names. So we were blown away by the results because you were able to go back so much further. Balkan,NW Europe, Iberian Finnish, Ashkenazi Jewish & E. Africa, WOW! I called all my Irish, Jewish & Black friends & told them of my Report. We all had a good laugh & I encouraged them to get their own results.

disappointed

I was disappointed after reading the many great reviews to get my results, especially the health one. It had a result that was directly opposite to at least one of my health conditions. Additionally, the other information provided was really not helpful. And I am certain I have American Indian heritage, however, it did not show this at all. Very disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback. Providing each and every one of our customers with accurate data is a top priority for 23andMe.
Having Native American DNA is different from having Native American ancestry. We understand that the distinction between ancestry and DNA can cause confusion.
Your results from 23andMe can only show you what can be seen in your DNA. Native American DNA is often lost with time and with every generation and may not be revealed in testing such as ours. For example, it only takes a couple of generations from a full-blooded Native American to lose all trace of Native American DNA.
We'd like more information about your health reports. A Customer Care agent will follow up with you via email.
