I purchased 23&Me because, at the time, I knew nothing about my paternal side. While I had an interest in the origins, my main interest was health, especially as I get older. I've since learned a great deal about my paternal side---origins, family tree, health, and even photos! I already had a great deal of in depth information on my maternal side and its branches. I also knew a great deal about my own personal health. I found that the information provided by 23&Me---origins, family and personal health, as well as personal genetics were completely wrong across the board, especially with respect to my health and genetics. While taking the test and getting the results were both fast and easy (and the cost was reasonable), the results were very disappointing, as were my attempts to get clarification. On the plus, 23&Me does offer a number of surveys which are interesting.

My original report was accurate. This update now says I have zero danish and I know for a fact I have a great grandparent from Denmark...it used to have Danish in my report and now it’s gone. This was really cool at first but now I’m disappointed and don’t see a reason to get one if they constantly change your ancestry and it isn’t accurate

Although I bought for one use I didn't know so much else maybe not directly connected but still history of people. I am addicted and plan on getting my child and that child's father done so I can find out more about her because of things discussed in forums about why families change names or say they are Native American and etc.. I'm addicted. With that said still becareful what you are looking for...

Bought kits for myself, my husband and our 3 adult kids for Christmas. Seemed like fun, and interesting. We were going to have a "revealing party" but because everyone submitted their samples at different times, and none of the samples revealed much, we just forgot the idea. It wasn't what we were expecting, but we can't even articulate what we were expecting. I suppose if there was something "wrong" or "significant" it would have shown up, and we would most likely be pleased to know. Maybe our reports that basically reported nothing were too boring for us...but maybe nothing is better than something????? Maybe the $200 we spent on each kit raised our expectations? Kind of a spendy "experiment".....???? There is A TON of information, but I honestly think it's overkill and information not needed at all and things most of us would never question or know to know....Almost like they are inundating us with info to make it look like the kit is worth it, but there is SO much information, I would have to spend my whole day or week going through it. It just didn't seem worth it to us. Hopefully this makes sense. I do think it could be a good tool....???? I don't know. Not convinced yet.

The whole process of sharing results with other 23 and me clients is very “kludgy.”
Email notifications should go directly to the link to share with a list of things that you want to share or you should be able to do it directly from the email notification itself click yes for share.
Over and over I have been disappointed with the uselessness and the seemingly random Ness of the pattern of the website. Basically if you signed up to 23 and me you were not signing up to learn a lot of things about yourself you were signing up to pay for somebody else’s research project

Several months ago, I logged into my account, clicked around on a few items, and up came a name of one of my cousins I met briefly when he was very young. I have no idea where he is located and his name is fairly common, so Facebook was useless to find him. There are about 20 people with his name. He was looking for information about his grandmother, asked several questions, and I had the answers to all of them. I "replied" in the space provided but never heard from him. I had the impression my message never even went through. I wish there had been a way I could have "found" him again.
