If you already know that your ancestors are European Jewish, the test is a waste of time and money. It added NOTHING that we didn't know about the ancestry part.

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Ancestry Composition feature tells you what percent of your DNA comes from each of 31 populations worldwide. This analysis includes DNA you received from all of your recent ancestors, on both sides of your family. The results reflect where your ancestors lived before the widespread migrations of the past few hundred years.

Your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. As we update our reference data, it will not be uncommon to see slight shifts in your results over time.

You can read about the population selection process in more detail in the corresponding section of the Ancestry Composition Guide:

Report was generic and I didn't get anything personal out of it. After all its my DNA but all it told me was that I'm korean...I knew that.

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You now are able to receive 65+ reports on health, traits and ancestry instead of exclusively ancestry reports. In addition, the 23andMe site has been redesigned, offering updated tools and features, better functionality, and new content.

You can preview a full list of available reports here: https://www.23andme.com/dna-health-ancestry/

Thank you for the feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.

Your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. As we update our reference data, it will not be uncommon to see slight shifts in your results over time. Keep in mind that the knowledge of ancestral and health genetics is also continually evolving. The field is not static and new discoveries are being made every day. At 23andMe we strive to keep pace with the current science and keep our customers up to date on new findings.

It is not a specific breakdown of your culture. It provides you we regions and continents but not specific countries. So I still do not know what I am.

I am 99.8% European. My ancestors are from countries that I thought that they would be from. I finally understand that I am me. I wish that older family members were still alive to share this experience with me.
Who knew about the Neanderthal DNA? I am blown away by that report.
I'm so glad that I can understand more about myself.

You may think you know. ...or that your ancestry will be pretty dull. But I still encourage you to do this! My husband's lit up like a Christmas tree and mine was only one shade - but we had so much fun and so many surprises in both of them.
23andMe is wonderful about keeping you updated all along the way. The reports are printable and shareable. Do it. It's worth the price.

Thank you for your feedback. It is important to note that sometimes, even if a person's great, great grandmother, for instance, was considered to be Native American, the DNA does not reveal the Native American ancestry because evidence is lost each generation. In general, however, Native American ancestry within the last few generations is likely to reveal itself through our features.

Currently 23andMe has several features that can reveal genetic evidence of Native American ancestry, although they are not considered a confirmatory test or proof of such ancestry in a legal context.

This does not mean that you do not have Native American ancestry or that your family heritage as passed down through the generations is incorrect.
