Finding a new side of the family

I initially bought 23andMe because I wanted to find out if our family had any links to blooding clotting issues. My doctor suggested 23andMe, she said it was way less expensive than going through any testing she would order. So I ordered, 23andMe which was easy to use, I got the results back quickly and the website was user friendly. After receiving my results, I found new family members. I have never known my mothers side of the family. I have contacted cousins on my mothers side. Not only do I have health reports, I have new family because of 23andMe.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this kit to not only learn about my health, but to also learn about my ancestry. I did know approximate regions of where my ancestors came from, but I found out more specific locations and learned a few things I did not know with this kit. My results came in nearly 2 weeks before I was expecting them and they gave me updates with each step of the process they completed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this kit and am so happy I did! I would highly recommend it! It was so interesting finding out about my ancestry and health! It was so much fun discovering all this new information!

Very disappointed.

I already knew all of the information I was told. Or at least the information I was interested in, which was the health part. I wanted to know how my body reacts to caffeine. All your test told me was that "I'm more likely to not drink caffeine. Thank you, I already know that. I may drink caffeine one or two times a week and I have never "craved" it. "You are more likely to have blue eyes" Thank you, I can see that as I DO have blue eyes. Whishing I didn't spend the money on 23andMe. I have told family and friends to try a different test/company. Very disappointed.

You receive 75+ personalized genetic reports to help you understand what your DNA says about your health, traits and ancestry.
23andMe is only able to provide results for conditions covered by our currently available reports. If the condition you are interested in is not the topic of a report, you will not receive information on that condition.

Specifics ?? No detail !!

I already knew that my ancestors came from Britain somewhere and have been told that the family was Welsh but I was not certain. I wanted to know if we were Welsh, Irish, Scot, or English. I understand from other information on the internet that the distinction can be made but that was not done by 23andme. Hugely disappointed!

Thank you for your feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
