Not so great

Reports not easy to share. The emails sent to do that did not let me in. I paid for two, one for my husband and one for my brother. I could not get into my brother's until I finally asked him for his password. I could not forward my husband's results to his siblings easily.
Results confusing, and too general, grouping ethnicities together. Results should have been sent in an easy to print format as an attachment. Then I could have sent it right on to the siblings.
Wish we had uses a different service. Not worth it for the money spent. Very disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback. If you've been genotyped through our service, you can share your genome with others through the Share and Compare tool.

The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
You can read about the population selection process in more detail in the corresponding section of the Ancestry Composition Guide: https://www.23andme.com/ancestry_composition_guide/

it really didn't detail the finding well. Plus my mother and her mother are 100% french and it wasn't close to matching what I know.

Thank you for your feedback. To find more details, you can view a full list of the reference populations by clicking the blue "See all 31 tested populations" link under your Ancestry Composition results.
Our Ancestry Composition report tells you what percent of your DNA comes from each of 31 populations worldwide. The analysis includes DNA you received from all of your ancestors, on both sides of your family. Some populations are inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart. In these cases, your expected ancestry may actually be included in the broadly assigned ancestry for that region. The Broadly Assigned label is assigned when a piece of DNA can be found with some frequency in multiple regions.

Dissatisfied

The genetic testing that this product offers is disappointing. There so much relevant genetic testing I was surprised when I learned of the very rare testing that this product offers. The genetic testing portion of 23 And Me was by far the most disappointing. The origin portion of the product was is generic and broad. It was difficult to discern I origin history from the results. This product was a gift so I course act grateful, I found it to be disappointing and a waste of time. I certainly would not spend my own money on this product and suggest you not to waste yours either

Based on advertising I expected more specificity with respect to origins, and I thought health information would be specific to me when in fact it is only typical of those who share my origins. Health information is a guess and nothing more

The data that we report is strictly genetic information regarding your genotype (e.g. the A’s, T’s, C’s, and G’s at particular locations in your genome), generated through processing of your saliva by 23andMe.

Very Disappointed and not worth the money at all. Just gives you general "guesses" pretty much. I would not suggest spending the money on this.

Question on my results.

I just received my results and am disappointed. I know that my grandparents on my father's side were both half bred American Indians and that did not come up at all in my results. It makes me question the results.

Thank you for your feedback. Having Native American DNA is different from having Native American ancestry. Your results from 23andMe can only show you what can be seen in your DNA. Native American DNA is often lost with time and with every generation and may not be revealed in testing such as ours.
This does not mean that you do not have Native American ancestry or that your family heritage as passed down through the generations is incorrect.
