I'm struggling to find something positive to say... It was the best test tube I've ever spit into?

Testing for exotic chromosomal anomalies without testing for more pressing genetic predispositions such as certain types of cancers, dementias, etc. under-representation of every population with the exception of European- caucazoid. Test results cannot be generalized for these low rep genetics unless studies were fully controlled- pretty much impossible. No warning or notice that this test is not generalizable.

You receive 65+ personalized genetic reports to help you understand what your DNA says about your health, traits and ancestry. We are working hard to meet your expectations on the types of reports we offer. In the future, we hope to offer reports about genetic risk for serious health conditions.
The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
You can read about the population selection process in more detail in the corresponding section of the Ancestry Composition Guide: https://www.23andme.com/ancestry_composition_guide/
Your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. As we update our reference data, it will not be uncommon to see slight shifts in your results over time.

Useless and uninteresting information.

Information is obvious like I have light hair and light eyes. The 41 carrier diseases are obscure, never heard of them. It confirmed what I already knew about my ancestry from family discussions. feel I wasted $200.

We did my daughter ancestry because she was curious and we really had no idea about my wife's side of the family. Once we received the results we spent an hour or two reading over the results and calling other family members asking "did you know we have this or that in our background". My daughter's results have prompted my wife and I to do our next and we are trying to get remaining parents and grandparents to do theirs as well. This has been a real eye opening experience and I am very pleased we chose 23andMe to do the job.

The test are so general it could apply to any one. It had me ranging from american to europe, asia, africa so it did not give me a real area I would be able to start a search for my true back ground

Thank you for your feedback. Our Ancestry Composition report tells you what percent of your DNA comes from each of 31 populations worldwide. The analysis includes DNA you received from all of your ancestors, on both sides of your family. The results reflect where your ancestors lived 500 years ago, before the advent of intercontinental travel.

One, I cannot open the second account (my husbands) - their solution was to get a new browser. Two, I answered the initial questionare and the profile they sent had the same information that I already had told them.

Thank you for your feedback. The data that we report is strictly genetic information regarding your genotype (e.g. the A’s, T’s, C’s, and G’s at particular locations in your genome), generated through processing of your saliva by 23andMe. While there is a short ethnicity questionnaire that is associated with your profile information, these answers are not used to generate your ancestry results.

Mixed usefulness

Okay for what it is, but I find the requested extensive surveys after the fact somewhat disconcerting. Maybe I'm being cynical, but the appearance to me is that the company could possibly be primarily interested in building a massive database for potential commercial usage by them (such as has happened with Google), without sufficient protections to customers regarding future release of g-nome data about them (Big Brother could be watching).
