This is the ONE!

The lesson I learned is 23&Me gave me everything I was looking for in one place. Other services do not give health, relatives, possible predisposed conditions and variants that may be passed on to my children. I, also, learned that I have a half-sister.

Adoption Search

I am adopted and know nothing of my birth family. I tried another company and found a lot of 2nd and 3rd cousins but none of them knew of someone giving up a child for adoption. I didn’t want to pay the $8-10,000 they wanted to hire an investor so I gave up looking until my daughter said that she took a test with a different company and did not get notified of a match. I then realized that each company has their own data base so I decided to try a search with 23&Me. I got a hit on a first cousin who was 30 years younger than me. I wrote to her and she replied that her mom was also adopted from the same agency that I was. We also shared a rare maternal gene which indicated that her mom was my sister. It turns out that she had done a search and found both of her parents. I’m pretty sure that her mother is also my mother and will know after she gets her results back if she is my full or half sister and if her father is also mine. The other company I used did not offer maternal and paternal gene testing and this has been very helpful.

My experience has been that I give more than what I get...In addition, the surveys are repetitive

I really appreciated the format of the original health reports and the research associated with the particular trait or disease propensity. Now the format is cumbersome and much less useful. I can't compare it to my family members associated with my account.
As far as ancestry goes I have not found many people who will share surnames etc. Some intriguing close matches will not communicate. I have been unable to expand my family tree at all based on this site.
In the past I would have recommended this product based on the interesting quality of the health reports but not now with the changes you have made.

The Reports Archive is a place to access any health-related reports that are not compatible with our new website experience. These reports have been converted to a PDF format that can be downloaded from within your 23andMe account.

You can view your sharing connections' results through the Share and Compare tool. To compare your DNA with another person, select their name in the Relatives and Friends section. 23andMe Great Platform for DNA Match / Family Tree

I use 23andMe frequently to locate my DNA family matches. 23andMe has been a great resource to me as I search for biological father and family that I have never known.

I bought this to compare notes with a 6th cousin - but the testing does not extend that far - I wish I had known that before purchasing.
