Our family is Native American Indian and you haven't correctly identified that sample of my DNA.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. It is important to note that sometimes, even if a person's great, great grandmother, for instance, was considered to be Native American, the DNA does not reveal the Native American ancestry because evidence is lost each generation. In general, however, Native American ancestry within the last few generations is likely to reveal itself through our features

MONEY WELL WASTED FOR ME...

Information provided was not useful for my purposes as I already know my hair and eye color (as well as the fact that I have no dimple on my chin, etcetera). My purpose was to gain relevant information regarding potential health issues and, to this end, 23&Me was pretty much useless. I wish the website clearly and effectively disclosed that information pertaining to genetic health predispositions is no longer provided.
Assuming an individual is unable to look in the mirror, assess their own traits or configure even a minimal family history, 23&Me might have some value. Those interested in an ancestral sketch may also be satisfied; but, even at that, the results read somewhat gimmicky to me for the $$ price tag.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My daughter gave me this for a present, and its the best present I've ever received! I have talked with so many people who are related to me and have been able to figure out how we are related too. The tools that are available on the website are amazing and they are available for everyone to use at no additional charge. I highly recommend 23andme to everyone considering a DNA test. The absolute best company to test with.

My greatest frustration in life is that because I look white and have blue eyes, no one believes me that I am a proud to be African American - Even my own children looked at me skeptical when I told them that both of my parents and all my grandparents and great grandparents were black, I told them I am no different than most descendants of slaves in that we have white ancestors during slavery days and that is how far back my white blood line went back to and they would still look at me and say OK if you think so.
23 & Me was a great gift in that it proved what I already knew - that I am 53% Sub-Saharan African and your report changed my life forever! I have a higher percent of African DNA than several of my darker skinned friends and now when i show them my report, they just look at me and marvel at the power recessive genes can have too sometimes.
Thank you 23 & ME, now you need to make and sell tee shirts with our DNA chart imprinted so I can just point to my percentage when people wonder what race I am!! LOL

So Happy I Joined a Few Years Ago

I was urged to join because my cousin did, found it was possible she had gene for certain kind of breast cancer. She confirmed with her doctor that she did, had surgery, but too late. She died a year later. I miss her and I thank her for urging me to join 23&Me.

I was given up for adoption as a baby and never knew anything about my family. I turn 37 next month, last week, thanks to 23andme I found a half brother. That discovery has lead to 3 other half brothers and my birth mother. I will be meeting one of my brothers and my mother for the first time in a few days. I can’t begin to explain this feeling and how thankful I am.

I was so excited to get my results back. My mother was from a long line of Italians. This was more or less confirmed. My father and Grandfather were both born on a reservation in Oklahoma. My paternal Grandmother was Swiss and I think German. This side of my family I wanted to see just how much Native American I was or wasn't.
What came back was what I expected about my mothers side of the family, although they were only Identified as southern european and 42 thousand year old gene set.
My father's side, northern european and 22 thousand year old gene set.
What the heck does that mean. American Indian that came across the land bridge from northern Europe ?
This is way too general to be any good. No reference to Italian on my mother side and nothing on my father side. What good is this?
