Getting to know myself

I received 23&Me as a gift and it has been wonderful. The health reports have been very enlightening and family connections alone are worth everything. I am truly grateful for the family connections. Many adoptees are finding biological family members and are no longer "lost". This, again, I have experienced. Thank you for the information and the connections to my families.

Ethnicity Results

For the most part, I'm satisfied with my results. However, as time has gone on and my ethnicity results have updated, my percentage of "Unknown" has gotten larger. I would think that with advancements in technology it would be getting smaller, more refined. I'm looking forward to the next update. I'm hopeful for more accurate results.
One other thing, the percentages of "Broadly" need to go away in my opinion. It's 2020, figure it out.
I do like the health reports. They are quite informative.

Found Family

Coming from a broken home with absent parents I never knew my family, or even knew who any of my family members were. 23 and me matched me with members of my family that I never even knew exsited. It provided me with comfort to know, 1) I'm not alone, and 2) my family had also wondered what happened to me. I'm thankful for 23 and me. Just knowing helps so much.

Abandoned at birth

I was not sure of Home23andme. I was in my late 50yrs old. I was abandoned by both parents. I had found my mother and had an awsome relationship. I had about about 10yrs spent with her. And I meet all my siblings on her side. I was so happy with the results so I went to my next step search for my Father I got to meet him he never got me connected to hid side of the family.I had given up of his family. Again one day I said I’m going in search my fathers side. Well never give up. Well guess what I found my FAMILY ON MY FATHERS SIDE.I FOUND ONE AUNT and now I found more sibling so happy and my father passed away. I feel blessed to have used 23andME I recommend to anyone it work. Thank you 23ANDME. IM 60yrs old and I’m still finding family. THANK YOU - THANK YOU AND GODS BLESSINGS FOR 23ANDME.

I found a 1st Cousin!!!

I did not expect to find anyone. I wasn't even looking. But now I have a new first cousin, and it's thrilling! I also found out I am related to people all over the globe, and if we lived in different times, I'd want to travel and meet them all - what a wonderful idea! To have relatives everywhere even though I can trace myself back to Philadelphia PA-born grandparents on both sides. Apparently before that, mayhem! This is very exciting to me! Try it! It was thrilling!

Found half brother and paternal father

Found out in October 2020 that who I had thought was my father for 67 years was not in fact my paternal father. My Ancestry update revealed I was a half aunt to my Niece. Which sent me on a quest to find my true Paternal parent. Anyone that would know is dead.
I purchased a 23&Me kit in October when it was on sale. Sent in the test, and the results came in the end of February. There was my half brother and numerous cousins. Our father passed away in 1996. However, I can start to fill in my missing medical history now.
So interesting to finally see people who resemble me. All three of us have a very distinct cleft in our chins.

My DNA results changed my life forever!

I am adopted and met my birth mom 23 years ago, she gave me the kit for a Christmas gift. I received my results and I found my half sister and she connected me to my birth father! My life is forever changed for the better! This kit is amazing how one little DNA test can connect families like mine, I’ll be taking a road trip and meeting my new sister on my 50th Birthday April 2nd. All thanks to 23 & me!
