I have been exceptionally pleased with the Health and Ancestry products with 23andMe! It has been a valuable tool to have in my tool box as I have investigated my family tree, but also for a good health plan for my body. The health service has not given me diagnoses, but has given me insight and information about my body. I am a pharmacist and clinical nutritionist, so, knowing a bit more about my health genetics literally helps me help my body be its healthiest and strongest. I recommend this product to everyone, as a matter of fact, I believe you and your healthcare professional could greatly benefit from this information!

Since the traits are based on correlations with user surveys, why doesn't 23andme use a survey to check accuracy? 6 of the 27 traits are dead wrong in my report.

I completed my 23 and me kit primarily for health reasons. What I did not expect was to find a sister I never knew and a whole new family. My test revealed that I had a first cousin. I thought I knew all my first cousins. I read my first cousins profile and learned she was seeking to know more about her mothers adoption from a small town in Germany. This peeked my interest as I have many ties to this small town. I sent my 'cousin' an email thru 23 and me. After several emails back and forth, we solved the mystery. She is not my first cousin but my niece and her mother, is my sister. Many years ago my mother had to give up an infant child and that child has now been found 55 years later. My mom and her daughter, my nieces and family met for the first time Memorial Day weekend. Exactly one week after my contacting my found DNA family member. I thank you so very much. It has been an incredible journey.

I have Japanese ancestry and I didn't get any more information than already I knew. So it was boring results. Your product is not for Asian I guess.

Thank you for your feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
You can read about the population selection process in more detail in the corresponding section of the Ancestry Composition Guide: https://www.23andme.com/ancestry_composition_guide/
Your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. As we update our reference data, it will not be uncommon to see slight shifts in your results over time.

My grandparents are Native American as was their family going back. They literally lived.on the reservation. I still have relatives that live there but my results said I was .1% native American and 4% African. On top you said it was only 50% accurate. I can't imagine what it's like for people who don't know their ancestors getting inaccurate results like these. Very disappointed.

Thank you for contacting the 23andMe Team. Having Native American DNA is different from having Native American ancestry. We understand that the distinction between ancestry and DNA can cause confusion.
Your results from 23andMe can only show you what can be seen in your DNA. Native American DNA is often lost with time and with every generation and may not be revealed in testing such as ours. For example, it only takes a couple of generations from a full-blooded Native American to lose all trace of Native American DNA. This does not mean that you do not have Native American ancestry or that your family heritage as passed down through the generations is incorrect.

I know this may be a bit far fetched... but I would like to know much more about where I came from. I'm a Caucasian male, so when I pay $100 to find out where I came from I don't like having nearly 2/3s say "Europe". I already knew that... I'd like a much more defined 25% German, 20% British, 18% Irish, etc. I literally already knew what was put in my report. Seems like a giant waste of $99.

In March 2018 my son I gave up for adoption in 1965 found me through his daughter finding my daughter on 23andMe. It's been the blessing of my Lifetime to finally see, meet, hug, and tell him how much I have yearned for THAT moment. THEN...In September 2018 I received an email from 23andMe regarding a close DNA match that said I was a 1st cousin to this person!. It took a few minutes to go through my parents' families to realize that I was in contact with a girl who was given up for adoption in 1955 whom I had been made aware of by the person I had told about my son in the mid 1980s. After numerous emails this "girl" came to visit me just two weeks ago and what a wonderful 3 days it was!!! She joined 23andMe in June 2018 with the desperate hope that she would find her biological family, so thank you AGAIN, 23andMe, for the second time this year for helping to add to my family genealogy! Thank you so so much.

I absolutely love 23 and me!!! My cousin and I were able to find her sister who was given away as a baby. I was also able to show my Dr. I needed a higher strength medicine because I metabolize it at a fast rate. I am also tracing my ancestry.
