I was excited about the whole process when I began, but when I got my result “packet” back I was very disappointed. I learned some good information about my health, but there was also health information that was behind a paywall. If I wanted to know more about it I would need to buy a subscription. I feel very duped by 23andMe and their marketing ploys. I would not recommend to anyone.

My wife purchased the kit for me 2 years ago, but I finally got around to doing the test. I never knew anything about my father, but the test revealed a first cousin on my paternal side. I contacted him and within a day, I learned who my father was and that I had 3 half-siblings. Two weeks later, I have had contact with all three. We are all thrilled to have found each other, and a huge mystery has been solved. My father had passed before finding out his identity, but I have learned that he was a great man, I know what he looks like, and that I can be proud of who may father was.

My report identifies my ancestry as 94.5% Irish and English but my mother and her ancestors go back at least several generations in eastern France. France and Germany= zero in the report. I'll have to try the other company or wait for the technology to improve

I am very skeptical because I know my great grandmother was Choctaw Indian and I know where she is buried. Yet no Native American heritage showed in my ancestry.

Thanks for your feedback. Your results from 23andMe can only show you what can be seen in your DNA. Native American DNA is often lost with time and with every generation and may not be revealed in testing such as ours. For example, it only takes a couple of generations from a full-blooded Native American to lose all trace of Native American DNA.

Very Interesting and Useful Information

All my life I have suffered with stomach issues. From the time I can remember I was at the doctor for this. Around 12 I decided to just try and live with it. When it would get bad I would go to the doctor and it was decided I had IBS. The treatments never worked that well and I just thought this was something I would have to learn to live with. My 23 and me results said that I was at a slight increased risk for Celiac disease. I wasn't really sure what this was, but the symptoms fit my issue. My doctor doesn't think that I have full-blown Celiac disease, but instead a gluten sensitivity. If I avoid gluten, I feel normal. This isn't easy to do, but now I understand how to better manage my health.

23 and Me is awesome! I was adopted and never knew that I had a sister, until 23 and Me matched our DNA. Now, we talk every day. She's become my best friend. I've planned a trip to see her. It will be quite exciting. We have so much in common! 23 and Me has given me (an adopted person) that key to my missing puzzle piece... my sister. Thank you!

I got this kit as a gift a few years ago. Since then the diseases screened for were all negative, but one. The positive variant was spot on because a recent exam shows the start of the disease in its beginning stages. Because of the finding, I can prepare for the future and hope research will improve life going forward.

I bought the kit in hopes of finding some DNA family as I was adopted as a baby. I found many relatives, and even met a few who turned out to be very nice, and I have learned allot about my ancestors, health and roots. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
