An unknown world opens

With a very easy-to-use test, 23 and allowed me to open up an unknown world of relatives in different cities, as well as information about different characteristics of my health.

I had a pretty good idea what my heritage was with all the research I've been doing over the years. However the 23 and me made it clear when my heritage was, and at the age of 79 I still have all my faculties and I keep on learning. I know more about history than I ever did in school. I wish you all the luck in finding your heritage because it would give you a piece of mind. The biggest thing is going to find is who you are and what you're made of so you can adjust your life. And don't make the same mistakes thank you Bob

Missed my ancestry

I bought this because my wife had done it and she was intrigued by her outcomes. There was a bit of mystery to my ancestry, but I had a good grip on who my ancestors were. Unfortunately, the 23andMe test and results missed the mark with my ancestry.

23 and Me intentionally deceives consumers into thinking they have purchased information on health risks while putting this information behind further paywalls. I highly recommend using a different DNA processing provider.

Inconsistent & inaccurate for Asians

These tests seem inconsistent and inaccurate. My results were 100% East Asian and I saw for others that they would break down the provinces, however, I got 0 additional information besides “35% northern Chinese and Tibetan” (23andMe also cannot distinguish between the two) and “65% southern Chinese”. Nothing more, which is disappointing considering many other East Asians got provinces, so just know that yours could come out very basic.
Also, it found some distant cousins for me, some of these cousins are 100% Japanese, or 100% Korean, and 0% anything else. Well I’m 0% Japanese and 0% Korean, so obviously someone in our shared line is mixed, otherwise how would our common great great grandfather make one lineage that is 100% chinese and another lineage that is 100% Korean? It just doesn’t make sense.

Incomplete and inaccurate reults

Only got 1/2 information correct. Northern European accurate. I have family from Canada(especially Nova Scotia. Not a small amount quite a large family heritage from this region.
