No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. As new 23andMe members join that match your DNA, they will be automatically added to your DNA Relatives list. Keep in mind that DNA Relatives is only able to locate other individuals who have been genotyped by 23andMe, and who have opted in to the feature.

I found myself a new dad! Best surprise of my lif

I took the 23andme test almost 2 years ago. I didn’t recognize a few matches, but just figured that it was because my dad didn’t know or keep in touch with most of his family. I sent some messages to my matches and figured out that the man (I wasn’t raised by) that we thought was my father wasn’t. I know it sounds terrible, but it wasn’t awful news to me. I was able to make contact with my birth father and his family and we’ve had a relationship ever since. Best surprise of my life. My birth father is an amazing man and so is his family. Very loving.

Found what I was looking for

I was thrilled to find the info I was looking for on the first day I received my results. Was able to connect with unknown family members immediately. Cant say much more than I am happy with what happened and hope my DNA doesn't implicate me in the future when I go rogue

Disappointing

This product is was nothing but disappointing for me. Couldn't even link me up to any of my family members that I grew up with and that also took the test, but it linked me to alot of random people I never heard of. I lost faith in this site, the only thing I got out of it was my nationality.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thanks for your feedback. If you are not seeing your relative in your DNA Relatives list, they likely aren't opted in to the DNA Relatives feature within their account. Keep in mind that DNA Relatives is an optional feature that we make available to customers who have been genotyped by 23andMe. In order to view a match within DNA Relatives, both parties need to participate in this feature. Please ensure that your relative has selected to participate in DNA Relatives.

The product was easy to use, and results were fast. It is interesting to see the lineage and timeline of my DNA relatives. There are so many cool little things to look at and learn about your self, family, and history.
It is also a place to find unknown relatives. Be aware that you might unearth family secrets, as I have.

I have 5 new sisters!

23 and me has introduced me to 5 new sisters! I am adopted and my birth Mom has two daughters and my birth father had three other daughters. So far, I have met 3 of these new sisters in person and I can only describe the situation as unbeliveably amazing! Never in a million years could I have imagined this as my new reality. I am forever grateful to this company and to the new family conections I have made.
