Surprising

My entire life our mother said her grandmother was full blooded Native American. I laugh with my siblings and wish I could have had the chance to tell Mom we have 0% Native American genes. I took the test to see if I was passing bad traits on to my kids. Looks good! Thanks 23andMe.

When I was in high school one of the history projects was doing a family tree. My older sister is very detail oriented so she found quite a bit of relatives. I got this to see if the ancestry matched what my sister found.
These results were spot on. I already knew I was French, Irish, German, Ukrainian. I was surprised to find traces of British, Italian (I love tea and Italian food haha), and a hair of Northern Africa.
I was curious about health stuff. I don't have any children but wanted to see if anything would show up in case I do.
Lastly, I wasn't looking for any family. But I found 1 already. We don't live anywhere near each other. It was amazing because she didn't know any of her family on her mothers side. We've exchanged pictures and we do have the same smile and jaw line! We're different generations (2nd cousins) and I'm glad the physical features are the same

23andme Opened Up My World

I purchased my 23andme kit many years ago. At first I had no matches. Now I have many many pages of matches, new cousins who are working with me to find our connections. The nicest part of the 23andme experience is that I have met many new cousins. We now trade photo's and information. I have realized the connection between family member I have met through 23andme is a different connection then with friends. Sometimes I have noticed a physical resemblance, sometimes I have felt a more personal connection. With one of my DNA cousins, who I have not met, we regularly talk on the phone. We have the same sense of humor, the same type of values and the same sense of fun. I am meeting her this September. She is family to me now. All through family history and DNA. My life has been enriched through my 23andme experience. The medical part of my DNA results have been fairly accurate too. I would recommend 23andme for anyone who wants to try DNA.

Great with the health reports also

I have done the 23 and me and the Ancestry, and 23 and me is by far more detailed than the other one. Also, I included the health reports so that in itself is reassuring especially as my Gr Grandfather was adopted and no known history there. Also, I have answered most all of the questionaires as I hope this helps in future studies.
I have recommended 23 and me over the Ancestry to many friends also.

Found biological family

I had already taken another dna test which narrowed down candidates to be my biological father, but could not get closer than third cousin and third great grandparent. As soon as my test results from 23andMe came back, I found a first cousin, who was able to direct me to three siblings. One agreed to take a test which confirmed that we were half siblings. Now I have a lot of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. I also learned so much about my dna and am learning more daily.

Discovered family secrets and new family

It's been a year since I did my test and I'm so happy I did! I've always been interested in genealogy. We always believed my grandpa was raised by his biological father and his stepmother. Thanks to 23andme, we found out he was actually adopted and had we never done this test, paper documentation would have led us to believe the wrong information. I've learned much about my ancestry and met 32 new relatives in person in 3 months thanks to this product. I love the DNA relatives feature and all the reports. I recently did the health portion and it's awesome! I get on 23andme just about everyday.

I have been amazed with this experience. I was matched with a relative, sent her a message and within minutes she send me a picture of a girl over 111 years ago that looks just like me.

Mystery Solved!!!!

Within 4 weeks my 30+ years search for my bio-father has been solved. We are hoping to meet soon as his health is poor. He is a Purple Heart recipient that suffered 2 bullets to the neck in Viet Nam before being sent home. He never knew of my existence. I've found that I've got 2 sisters and a brother, as well as finding family from my mother's side that have spent 30+ years searching for me. This is incredible! My father has just submitted his test, which is such a blessing for me. His wife is doing one as well as she is seeking to find a daughter she gave up in 1967. Reach of us were skeptics about these kits... obviously we are now absolute spokespersons for them! Thank you so much!
