Deeply Disappointed

I was deeply disappointed with my 23andme genetic test. I was hoping to find out some relevant history about my ancestors--where they came from, when they immigrated, what my family tree looks like, what health information can be gleaned from my genes. My test revealed none of this. All I found out was that I'm mostly eastern European and Jewish, information that I knew already. I learned nothing about my health except for useless nuggets of infotainment, like "You're 10% more likely than other 23andme users to be able to roll your tongue." After two months of waiting, dozens and dozens of surveys filled out, all I got was money down the drain. This genetic test is absolutely worthless.

too technical and very little information for the cost. Basically I know I am of European decent. Wow! No trait or health info I could find in a complicated report.

Thank you for your feedback. Based on your review, it sounds like you purchased our Ancestry Service.

23andMe offers two services: our Health + Ancestry Service and our Ancestry Service. Both services require submitting a saliva sample using our saliva collection kit that you send to the lab for analysis.

Our Health + Ancestry Service examines your genes to tell you about your Ancestry, Carrier Status, Genetic Health Risk, Wellness and Traits. We analyze, compile and distill the information extracted from your DNA into 90+ reports you can access online and share with family and friends.

Our Ancestry Service helps you understand who you are, where you came from and your family story. We analyze, compile and distill your DNA information into reports on your Ancestry Composition, Haplogroups, Neanderthal Ancestry and provide a DNA Relatives tool to enable you to connect with people who share DNA with you.

You can compare our different service types here: https://www.23andme.com/compare-dna-tests

There should be more information with how to research ancestry. It is extremely frustrating only have tool to do so. The product did do exactly what was advertised.

Its not what i expected

i log in every so often to see if results update. I expected detail like ancestry report where it details exactly where one comes from (my sister took hers there). My report on my heritage is also completely different, and mentions places not mentioned on 23 and me, so weird. Another thing i DONT LIKE although i have kindly answered and will not any more is the surveys, why am i paying to be surveyed and be part of research, should i be given an incentive to answer these questions? i know they are voluntary answers, at first i would take them out of boredom nothing to do on my phone, most questions just answering without really knowing what the question is really answering maybe expecting a scientific result, "based on your answers your gone code blah blah blah" but i got none of that. i expected at least a box that would say we found a connection historical fact, didn't get ay of that on, or at least "we found no connections to historic figures, but heres this" not excited

DNA showed my dads not my real dad

I'm not sure how I feel about my report honestly, a part of me wishes I never knew the truth, while the other part of me is grateful to know the real truth for the sake of having my real medical history & not the medical history that I was told was mine. which was a big fat lie.
