Amazing Information

I appreciate the amount of health and ancestral information I can share and receive from 23 and Me. I regret I don't use it or use it as a go to more often. When I do, I don't want to put it down.

Not what I expected

Overall cool process but I didnt find the results to be accurate. My parents had told me some of their ancestry but I did not find what they told me in my results which was odd.

I thought I would get more genetic information: risks of diseases and genetic traits but mostly this is broad general ancestry.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Great Opportunity To Discover

Sent my DNA sample in 2017 and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I recently discovered a 2nd cousin and we are trying to fill in the missing pieces.

Would love to be able to correct traits....

What most excites me about the service is that it updates somewhat frequently. I do enjoy this service, however I fall under certain "likely" traits that don't describe me, so while I understand that it means that I am "likely" to have a certain trait over another, I'd like to be able to correct them as they reflect on me.
Also I'd like to add my diagnosed conditions/syndromes and/or explore if these are familiar. They are not listed. I think if more of us were allowed to do this, we'd be able to discover more gene-related conditions.
I'd also like to better understand how genetics works. For example, I don't have one type of ancestry but my son does, and yet 23&Me attributed it to him getting it from me as opposed to his dad, who did not do the test, stating that it might fall under my "undefined" category. At this point, then it's no longer "undefined" in my opinion, because you already know that I am the one responsible for him inheriting this. I don't quite understand how this is calculated and how it's known to come from me, when the other parent didn't do the test; therefore I would like more of an explanation on how genetics work, especially when they don't reflect on a person but they do on their child. I assume these things will change in the future and get more refined, and I look forward to that.

Love all the different reports

I love all the different reports and the research links. What was most interesting is that my mother had macular degeneration (Yes, I am taking anti-oxidants, etc). Report shows I have genetic tendency for this also. I found that I am a carrier of cystic fibrosis and would suggest that anyone contemplating having a family get the health report.
So far no long lost second cousins have been found. Family legend suggested native American Indian ancestry on my fathers side, and report showed a very small amount so 23&Me appears to verify the story.

Amazing product!

I'm so happy that I've come across this product! The features are great and I love the setup/layout they provided for us. It's simple and really helps us to understand ourselves, and where we've come from, better. I do wish they're was a way to tell us what % we are of french and/or german instead of % French & German, etc. The health benefits are really interesting and a great insight into our future. And the DNA Relatives Tool is such a great aspect! Highly recommended if you're wondering about your family's ancestry, health warnings, or trying/interested to find family members.
