I have Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency

You test said I could but probably don't have the inherited disease ( emphysema and liver damage). My hepatologist tested me for it, and it came back positive. I just ordered a test for my brother, who agreed to be tested for paternal genetics as long as I paid for it (He is thrifty.) Can I get the $20 referral fee?

DNA Relatives

Finding it difficult interpreting and understanding results of the single attribute of 23andme. Decedents I assume would share closer percentages, do not appear on my 1220 DNA Relatives. My siblings are not included, although they have joined the 23andme family. I show a nephew at the top of the list, but nothing else. Now, I'm seeing a man from Guyana (I'm approx 90% Irish), fourth on my list of DNA Rels. jn

I've contributed for the past couple of years and this has given me the opportunity to think about my health in a more detailed manner. Wish there was a way to list items that I have a personal interest in, but by and large, the suggested items are good. PTSD and Atrial Fib, heredity

Exciting DNA relative results

It has been over a year since my DNA was tested and I have found 3 definite 3rd and 4th cousins. We have compared our family tree lines and the most exciting one for me is from my father's line. I have very little from that line. We will continue to work to find some of our mysteries..It has been nice to be in contact with them.

While I always had faith in the potential of direct to consumer genomic testing for one's reference (with uses ranging from decisions in healthcare to family planning), the greatest source of personal satisfaction with my purchase has come in the form of voluntary contributions that I have made to the scientific community in furthering it's understanding of what makes all of us, for lack of a better term, us! In addition, the ability to link my genomic data to countless other services to gain even more insight has proven invaluable to my overall health and well-being. Keep up the good work!

Love 23 & Me

I really appreciate the information I have gotten from 23 & me. My mother was adopted and we only knew that her birth mother was Finnish and there was no father listed. I didn't know what happened to her mother. My Mom died not knowing. Since having my DNA done and sharing, I have found a huge number of DNA relatives; one in Finland who kindly traced my grandmother's family (his and his wife's ancesters, too) back to the 1500s. So, I went from having no sense of history to having a huge family and a huge history!

23andme gave me a sense of who I was. My dad was very convinced who he was but that left me wondering where the other half of me came from. Love the health info. too. I felt relieved to get it but it also let me know I could have vision issues later in life so I know to seek professional treatment sooner rather than later. Thank you 23andme! Bought kits for both my kids and can’t wait to connect the results with them!
