I was very disappointed with the outcome I was sent. Very vague. Not worth the money.

Lack of useful information.

I paid for this report expecting to get information on the likelihood in devoloping serious genetic diseases like diabetes, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, etc. I never received this information but my friend in Canada got it. It looks like they don't provide everything to some countries like USA. Instead they tell me what color my skin and eyes are which I already know. Just a waste of money for this. Very disappointed.

We are working hard to be able to add reports on genetic risk for various health conditions. At this time, we only provide the following reports: https://www.23andme.com/dna-health-ancestry/
23andMe will continue to seek FDA authorization to offer new reports.

Waste of money

I thought this was Really DNA based. What it feels like is the take the DNA and by having so many people participate they start drawing potential conclusions based on all the data. Telling me I have a 52% versus 48% chance of having a characteristic is a compelling result.

Thank you for the feedback. Providing each and every one of our customers with accurate data is 23andMe's number one priority. We have several quality control steps during the processing and loading of your data and we are confident in the data that we returned to you.
Most human traits are complex, meaning they are not determined by a single factor. Even when we find genetic factors that have a large effect on a trait, they still explain only a portion of it.
Many other factors influence traits, including your ancestry, other genes, and other non-genetic factors. That’s why we also include a section in each report that talks about some of these other factors. The results are based only on specific genetic factors that we know about now, but our predictions may get better as we learn more.

Adoptee finds a Family Link

Being adopted, I never expected that a DNA link to my biological family would show up...figuring that was too good to be true. A 2nd cousin was able to provide enough information so I have 2 names that may be my biological mother. Unfortunately both sisters are passed away, but seeing photos of my 2nd cousin started the fire to research for siblings! I will respect their privacy but hope we can connect. Mission accomplished, I'm Irish and there's more family out there...somewhere close!

Scientifically Enlightening

I was looking for genetic, and wellness information, being I was adopted, and had no idea of my genetic background (thinking I was Irish, or German all along), this proved enlightening to discover more about my ancestry (I am Balkan, and Italian), though the real surprise was when I found a half brother on this site, that which linked me to finding my biological father (after 48 years), and discovering he is still alive as he is 82. My mother has not been discovered yet. I additionally discovered through my father I have 6 half-siblings. First and foremost I had to thanked him for my DNA, being I am still very young-looking, healthy, and not a carrier for any disease, and his reply was "we have good livers in this family and longevity is on our side".

Found my biological family

I've been very happy with 23 and me, the information they provide is useful and it's surprising to me both what it can and cannot tell about you. Mostly, though, it helped me find my biological father, who put me in touch with most of the rest of my biological family, so... very hard to complain.
Answering their research questions, it can get a bit tiring having to answer "not sure" to so many questions because... I've only just met by biological family and don't know much about them. I also stalled on giving them permission to add me to some research because their policies don't give you much control or information of what to do with your information. It's optional to participate, but I'd like to be able to do so with a bit more control of my data.

IMPORTANT aspects of knowing oneself.

Most of my life I have not known very much about my biological family. It has been very important and satisfying to learn information that I might have never known without 23&Me. Sometimes confusing because there are things I used to be able to do in my youth but cannot now so not always sure what an accurate answer might be. To learn pieces of the puzzle of who I am and where I came from has been priceless. Thank you.
