Potentially a Great Resource for Genealogy

Make sure that "YOU" ask, and give the vital information concerning your birth surname with your mothers (This should help in your Ethnicity of your Genetic Ancestry), and other documented surnames of your connected family lineage, and their ancestry.

I found my son!

When I bought this DNA test kit, I had no idea that I would discover an adult 50 year old son that I did not know about. We have now established a relationship and are trying to work through all of the time that we have missed. I cannot believe that I am a great grandfather at age 69! To gain a son, four grandchildren and a great grandchild on the same day is life changing! Thank you 23andme.

My daughter got this for me as I have never known my paternal heritage. This answered some age old questions. although this couldn't tell me who my father was I was at least able to know where he came from.

I am very pleased I did this! I know the site is not to find lost love ones, but I found a half sister Connie that I NEVER knew about. Its been 52 years for her finding her family and thanks to you she got her wish! My mother never told us that she had a baby that she gave up for adoption until I asked her about it a few weeks ago. I also love the reporting of my ancestry. I have told many to sign up!

Left me feeling dissapointed

I was excited to learn more about myself and my husbands health and background. Received my report, and I felt let down. I guess I was hoping for a more in depth report, not the likely hood of me having freckles or a widows peak. Very general information was given. The ancestry part was pretty cool.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You now are able to receive 75+ reports on health, traits and ancestry instead of exclusively ancestry reports.
In addition, the 23andMe site has been redesigned, offering updated tools and features, better functionality, and new content.

Stunning results

Be prepared to be surprised! Just like the tv commercials for that other brand, your ethnicity may not be what you thought it was. You should take this test while you still have older relatives left to discuss the results. Now, I have only first cousins. This company has so much information for you when your results are given to you. You will be entranced with it.

Only told me of 65 percent what I am

Couldn't tell me exactly what I was, they used broadly and from one region not ethnicity now I will have to pay for another DNA someplace else to find out exactly what I am. They can fix this I don't know why they don't.

Thank you for your feedback. Your results add up to 100%. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.
