Not exactly what I hoped

I was kind of disappointed that I couldn't get more detailed information about my origins. I was hoping to find out more. It doesn't matter to me if my hair was supposed to be straight (even though it is not) or if I can smell asparagus in my urine. I don't know my father and I want to know more about me. Since we are dealing with X chromosomes, that was not possible as far as I can tell. Also, it would be great to find relatives, although that is not looking likely. I am glad I did this but it can't tell me about my possible Native American ties or if my DNA history meant that my family came through the Caribbean after leaving Africa. The best thing that I learned is that I am actually a sickle cell carrier. Maybe someone will come up that has DNA in common one day. Here's to hoping.

I was adopted as an infant and spent a lifetime wondering about my heritage, background and other issues of belonging. I did find my birth family at age 52. Indeed, my birth mother and birth father actually married about 5 years after I was relinquished. So the four children they had when married, are my full brothers and sisters. 23 and Me will give me interesting info to share with them.

I made the decision to do 23 and Me to learn about my ancestry, as I was adopted. I never expected to find DNA matches to an Uncle that lead me to my birth parents! Within 2 hours of reviewing my results I was in constant with family I never knew existed. Amazing experience and information this provided!

I couldn't have been happier with my 23andMe experience. 23andMe kept me informed from the time they received my sample until the final report was ready for download. i really appreciated that. As for the final report, I was expecting a simple breakdown of my ancestry in percentages, but what I got was so much more. I gained an in-depth understanding of my genetic background. I had researched my family's history extensively for years, following the paper trail and conducting interviews with people who had known my ancestors. I was amazed at how accurate 23's report was. For instance, they nailed my father's Lithuanian ancestry exactly, even down to the time frame his parents came to America. While my mother's ancestry was a bit more diverse and going back to the earliest days of European settlement in America, what I saw in the report matched what I had determined from years of research. I was so happy to have scientific evidence to support what my previous research had revealed, because a few family members had challenged things I had learned. I'm showing my report and recommending 23andMe to everybody I know. i couldn't bear to go to my grave without knowing what my DNA could reveal about my ancestry, and I am eternally grateful for the service 23andMe provided.

Granny's 23andme Review 4/9/17
I'm 95 years old. I heard about 23andme from my granddaughter. She ordered my kit for me & sent in my sample. I'd never imagined God allowing me to see something like my DNA or anything like relatives of my ancestors or learning what groups of people I'm from. All I knew was that I was Black (we've been called by many names during my lifetime) and might have a little Indian in my blood. My eyes have seen a lot over these decades and 23andme is one of those amazing things. The biggest surprises were Scandinavian, Ashkenazi Jewish, Middle Eastern, and less than .2% Native American. Looking forward to getting to know more as we keep learning how to use the site.

You were prompt, but the report was disorganized and scattered. Each country of origin should have a % number imbedded on their graphic,as well as a written explanation. Every effort should be made to present the report in clear concise manner.

Got a rudementary report stating my ancestor is 100% something around 1900... My four year old son could have told me that... for free...
