Expectations too high

I was expecting more medical information. The report came back much quicker than I was expecting. I asked a question concerning medical information I was expecting and to date I have received no response.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Received this as a Hoilday gift and was very excited to take the test. Turns out I was told I was half French my whole life and that was not the case. I'm a lot less French than was told. Found out I'm more British and Irish decent. Then French and German. A tiny bit Native American and Asian. My mother took the test as well and it's amazing how you think your parents are this and you will be half of that well it really is a lot less than half and dominat traits show up differently. Very fascinating.

Be ready to unveil yourself

I'm adopted, and this was a special experience for me. Some things I knew about myself and 23 and me corraborated this information. Other aspects blew my mind and offered vast amount of information I would have never had. I've bought the kit for my father and mother in-law as gifts.

My husband knew that I was very into my family history and got me the DNA kit as a Valentine's Day gift. I was so excited for the results and couldn't wait 6 weeks. Well, I didn't have to! My results came early! I even have actual documents about some of my ancestors and the fact that 23andMe had no idea about me or these documents, I can confidently say that this is dead on as far as where my ancestors are from. Even though I was told much of my family history already, I wanted to make sure that my grandparents were correct and see if there was something else in my background that they didn't know about. Nope! I'm exactly what I have been told. I'm sold on this product and now I'm going to get one for my husband as well and I've been telling all of my friends to get this if they would like to know their ancestry for sure!

Deeply Meaningful Information

Like most of us probably are, I am a second-generation product of grandparents from several nations. Had high hopes that my looks would more strongly connect me to one of those nations, but was surprised that science overwhelmingly connected me to the one I least suspected. The information from 23andme was beautifully presented and substantial with wonderful interactive information design that contributes to the dignity and professional quality of their effort.

I was told for 42 years i was italian and ukranian. Well...im italian...Balkan..Iberian..eastern europran..west african..and african american and jewish. Talk about a ethnic gholosh.

What a waste

I was under the assumption that this would show me where I come from. Not 100 years ago and not just my mothers DNA.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The majority of our features, such as DNA Relatives and Ancestry Composition, analyze your autosomal DNA, which you inherited in equal parts from your father and your mother. Therefore, your results will be a reflection of both your paternal and maternal ancestry. These features generally report on your ancestry from within the past 5-10 generations.
The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You now are able to receive 65+ reports on health, traits and ancestry instead of exclusively ancestry reports.
